"Van Halen was one of the most hallelujah, tailgate, backyard, BBQ, arrive four hours early to the gig just for the parking lot bands. And still to this day is. It's an attitude. I think it's a spirit more than anything else is."

Bands Settle Over the Name Supernova
The Associated Press
Thursday, September 21, 2006; 9:37 PM
LOS ANGELES -- There's enough Supernova for everyone. At least according to the settlement reached by a Southern California punk band called Supernova and the CBS reality show "Rock Star: Supernova."
Under the agreement, announced Thursday, the punk band will keep its original name and the TV band will be known as "Rock Star Supernova."
The original Supernova, which recorded three albums under the name since 1991, sued CBS, the show's participants and Mark Burnett Productions in June claiming unfair competition and trademark infringement.
"Rock Star: Supernova," which began airing July 5, followed 15 contestants who aspired to become the lead singer of a new rock band that includes former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Guns N' Roses "guitarist" [and we use the term loosely] Gilby Clarke and former Metallica bassist Jason [look at my Voivod shirt] Newsted.
The winner,*cough* Lukas Rossi, named on the show's final episode, is expected to tour with the band _ Rock Star Supernova, that is _ and appear on its album. The group's first performance is scheduled for New Year's Eve in Las Vegas.
Last week, a judge issued a preliminary injunction barring the TV-show band from using the Supernova name.
The judge should have thrown the book at 'em

Subject NO VEGAS New year's gig for DILANA!!!
Body: Just making it clear to everyone!
I am NOT opening or doing the support act for Supernova in Vegas on New Year's!!!
I will be on the tour along with Toby, Magni, Storm and the house band Jan. & Feb. 2007!!!
Thanx!!
Ok, so the finale aired last night over here, and I hadn't read this thread for two weeks and had no idea who had won. However, now I'm wishing I had read this thread and saved myself an hour of cringemaking TV!
I feel a little cheated that I have watched a show for 10+ weeks only for the winner to be Lucas, who was not even near the top of the pack!
This guys voice annoys me. Some-times he Ov-er an-nun-ci-ates his words andthenonthenextlinehemumblesthemalltogethersoyouc an'tunderstandwhathesays and then we are back to ov-er an-nun-ci-ate-ing!
Plus the fact he sings like he has an really bad lisp or something, and has the most limited range.
Bad choice - he is going to kill those songs big time. I just don't understand the logic behind their choice. I have this image of Tommy and Gilby backstage going "dude, we found a new sound with this guy", "hell yeah he brings it everytime" nad then Navarro jumping around going "whatsup peeps, that was awesome dude, killer" and generally pretending to be down with the kids. Word to the wise guys: being out of key will never be a new sound!
For my money this was between Dilana and Toby, who got better and better as the weeks went on!
If they were gonna write all the lyircs and songs, and literally wanted a hired gun, then Dilana was the choice: she owned that stage and had the cool smokey vocals. One tour and one album and then its over and everyones happy!
If they wanted a co-writier and a multi-album career, then Toby everytime. Brilliant performer and they admitted themselves that his vice was the only one to cut through the guitars every show! Also his original song blew away all the Supernova stuff, maybe they were intimidated by that?
Anyway, shit choice in Lucas: anyone else noticed that shaking walk around the stage he does? It's as though he's saying "look at the emotion pour out of me, I'm so intense". Pussy.
