King's X unfortunately fell into the same trap that the 77's did.

They got tagged as a "Christian band", which means that mainstream rock radio and eMpTyV (even when they played actual music videos) pretty much ignored them.

Meanwhile, Christian radio also ignored them for the most part, and many Christian book & music stores won't sell it if they haven't heard it on the local Jesus station. Never mind that the band's roots trace back to Phil Keaggy and Petra, two of the best known names in Christian music.

Not to mention that what small portion of this genre did accept King's X definitely shunned them after Doug came out of the closet. Not what JC himself would have done, of course, but since when did that matter to this crowd??

If I only know about it why would I share it? Okay, I'll play.

The one and only album by The Flying Tigers. It's self titled and it fucking rocks with great harmonies.
I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...

King's X bringing some big badass rock on, "Complain"....

I really love this band, I have been a fan since I first heard them in 1988, and seen them maybe 15 times since. I remember distinctly the first time hearing them on the radio. I was driving in my 78 Chevy Camaro, listening to 89.5 fm WSOU, driving across the Rutgers Busch campus, near the football stadium, and on the radio I hear this amazing music and song, the song is "Goldilox", and the band of course, King's X.

              Go see these guys live.

I said I'd post some more, so here goes....

                    Refused - Shape of Punk.

This album has a cult following, and I bought it the day it came out after reading a glowing review. It is fucking immense, and the reason for all post-hardcore bands since (At the Drive In etc....). Ok, they are seriously pretentious marxist punks (the record comes with a fuckin' manifesto!) but if you can ignore the bollocks, this is a great piece of music: angry yet accessible; simple but innovative; short but epic. It's a grower too.

                    Next:

                    Therapy? - Troublegum.

I imagine some of the UK guys will have heard of this as they are fairly big here. Amazing Irish punk/metal crossover. Big riffs, big songs, angry and psychotic lyrics and clever song-writing all sparsely produced. It's as though they are playing in the room with you. Just a great, great record which gives me a sort of melancholic yet warm glow every time I play it.

First one has a killer riff.

                          Just excuse his piss-poor singing.

Worth noting that Jason Bonham is on drums and Adam Clayton is on bass and Kevin Shirley co-produced.

And Jean Beauvoir from Wendy O William's band provides something (it doesn't say what though).
