I must admit i didn't give Pump much of a chance after the commercialism of Permanent Vacation. Maybe i should go back and give another listen.

The Darkness - One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back: They should've stuck to the AC/DC approach...

Van Halen III: I was 15 & a major Ed-head when it hit the stores... (I did swap it later on for David Bowie's "Ziggy" & Cheap Trick's "Dream Police" LP's.)

Keel - The Final Frontier: I mainly bought it for the artwork...
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

[QUOTE=PHOENIX;1310902]Sometimes i look at my old cd collection and see stuff that just screams at me " What was i thinking".

I have wasted money on some pretty crappy albums.
        Zakk Wylde- Pride and Glory

Certainly a left turn on this CD!

Sat and watched Song Remains the Same with Zakk and his band ... before a show.

A few stinkers in my collection:

        Van Halen ~ OU812

Scott Weiland ~ 12 Bar Blues

Gilby Clarke ~ Pawn Shop Guitars

Prunella Scales ~ Dressing up the Idiot! (Rachel Bolin of Skid Rows attempt)

All this hate for the "Diamond Dave" album.

I liked it for what it was.... appreciated Dave's take on most of the covers. Didn't really care for the spin on Hendrix's "If 6 was 9" all that much but otherwise.

It was only disappointing in the sense that Brian, James, Toshi, and Ray were a solid band, and I would have loved to hear an original album from that band. Thug Pop - the only original on the record - was good enough, but I suspect that was a leftover from the DLR Band sessions, as John Lowery was credited as a writer.

As for the two "bonus tracks" tacked on to the end, it was good to hear a decent copy of Bad Habits, but the Vegas version of Ice Cream Man never did much for me.

I'm embarrassed to say any really. I liked "new rock" music in the early 2000s until late 2003 when I found VH. So you can only imagine the shit I was listening to...

Too funny. The guy on the far left has the George Lynch/ Mick Brown hair going from 3 years earlier, and the guy on the far right looks like a Dave Mustaine reject. What a struggler!

Tracks like Young Lust, F*I*N*E* and Monkey rock, and rock well. Elevator, What It Takes, and Janie are all purty good, too. Only REAL weak track, imo, is The Other Side. Think the band found a good balance on that album between serving up calculated commercial rock tracks that had some kick to them alongside other tunes that certainly weren't designed with massive airplay in mind, yet were just as strong.

The same thoughts struck me when hearing it, especially the capability of the people Roth had surrounded himself with (they certainly were excellent live), and to pretty much waste it on a bunch of covers...even when CVH went the cover route more times than not they took those tunes and made them their own / "Van Halenized" them. For me, not one of the covers on Diamond Dave even came close to approaching the original or was a particalarly interesting take on the tune, which begged the question "what's the point?"

Suppose for me the letdown had to do with really digging the result of the DLR Band CD, enjoying the rawness of and originality of the production, and wanting something more along those lines.

I still like the Diamond Dave CD.

You Got the Blues, Not Me sums up late-period Dave. All those fuckin' years waiting on the brothers to wake the fuck up.

                        back to the thread topic...

Queen + Paul Rodgers - Cosmos Rocks or whatever that was called. I like the pairing in concert, but the new stuff was just blah....

                        fuckin' Creed

there must be others I'm not thinking of...

The rest is pretty damn good...

I like Made Up My Mind, She's Looking Good, and of course, Thug pop quite a bit...

Scatterbrain's next release after Here Comes Trouble, I can't remember the name of the CD but I DO remember listening to the first 3 tracks in the car on the way home from the record store, pushed the eject button and tossed it out the window.

i recall in the late 80's buying almost every jethro tull album on lp as some drunken joke

thing is at least half the records were utter crap - unlistenable drivel

what a waste of money and time
