I certainly wouldn't call 'Death Magnetic' a disaster. It's not a classic, but it's definitely a good record.
If a good amount of your fan based is opts to rip/download your latest album not from you, but from the soundtrack of a video game because it sounds better than your official release, then it's a disaster.
Uh-oh. The album is to be produced by Rick Rubin. I'm not exactly impressed by his work with heavy bands, particularly the disasters he performed with AC/DC and Metallica.
ZZ Top with a lifesuckin', Nickelback-chorus. Lord, have mercy...
LMAO. You nailed it.
(decent guitar tone at least)
Iommi was on a roll in the seventies though. A new album every year, never made the same one twice. Granted, not all of it was accessible at first listen since the guy at times just hacksawed parts together but it worked when you're used to it.
Hey Kristy.
Good call on the Terry Jacks song. What a nightmare.
Music to slit the wrists to. I would have re-edited it so he dies in the middle of the first verse. I've got a machine gun sample from a Monty Python album.
Why? No reason other then he is one experienced session man who most likely can tolerate Eddie's shit while receiving a paycheck.
It's funny. I wonder if Steve would do it.... I remember him telling me a story once about when he was in school ( I can't remember if it was Miami or North Texas) he was offered to play bass for a new country band that was calling themselves "Alabama". He refused with the attitude that he was a Jazz player and didn't want to know from Commercial Country music.
He said he kicked himself in the ass for years as he would have been a Millionaire at a very young age.
I'm curious if he would say yes if VH asked.. He did say yes to Jethro Tull and did an album with them.

I'm listening to Queen News of the World and there's a bonus track of remixed We Will Rock You and right on the case on the back cover it says (1991 Bonus remix ruined by Rick Rubin)

Yeah, I have that one as well. I think they were part of the rereleases done quite a while ago by some weird label called Hollywood Records. They put out one or two of these bizarre compilations featuring track listings that seemed to be chosen off of a dart board. They put out "remixed" albums of everything up to Hot Space, but still managed to screw up the Live Killers album by making it sound as bad as a bootleg and failing to include the complete show.
The Hollywood Remasters were terrible. They managed to fuck up the beginning of "Too Late" entirely. Didn't buy any of the others after that. Went to the Crown Jewels box, which were remastered properly. Of course they didn't have any of the "Bonus Remixes" but most of them were crap anyway. The hip hop remix of "We Are The Champions" was just fucking awful. I've still got it in Hell's Torture Jukebox somewhere, but I would never intentionally listen to it again.
