Kristy's New Fav (Jazz) Bass Player

His name is Thomas Morgan

He's young, he's cute and plays bass better than most of you can masturbate (for those of you who still can).

So he's not flashy or virtuous like a Scott LaFaro or as "deep" as Charlie Haden but I dig his groove and that's all that matters.



I was impressed by his work on Tomasz Stanko's 'Wislawa' He'll improve. Give him time.

That was pretty good. I'm not a musician, but it must be difficult to carry a tune like that on solo bass. I've listened to my fair share of Jaco Pastorius type players, and I like them, but there's many a mainstream pop tune that has inventive bass - much more so than hard rock / metal.

In that respect, I can't remember how I stumbled across this clip of a teenager playing Steely Dan's 'Peg' on bass, but this is what I love about bass. I saw a documentary on this album and the original player, Chuck Rainey, appeared and showed how he made up / played his part. But this is better! Okay, she is just copping someone else's bass line, but you really see what a great bass part it is.
