Kid Rock.
We were trying different things we were smoking funny things.
You can't rhyme things with things. He could have said we were eating onion rings or swinging on the swings. That's a musical faux paus in my opinion.

That whole goddamn song is a musical faux pas. He's ripping off Warren Zevon and Lynyrd Skynyrd at the same time while committing lyrical felonies.

Though swinging on the swings would have been kinda weak too, really. The onion rings would have been appropriate after smoking the funny things.
