Apparently the old phrase "fake it, 'til you make it" holds water, given how they added crowd noise (and the other overdubs) to that first live album...

I still don't understand how that album sounds so good. The playing and the production are both light years ahead of all their albums and any bootlegs from the era. I don't care how they made it, it's damn perfect. And not one ballad to sully the proceedings.
