I posted on the DLRML first. Then I hooked up on Slawterhouse. Then I posted at the Links when it opened in '99. I was the first moderator (for a short time) at the Links (Brett's the only other person to remember that). I had my own Classic VH site for about a year or two (1999-2000 - vhdlr.com) Then I took a break for a couple years after the 2000 drama. Then I started posting here in 2004. Yeah!

EEAS, it proved that what was missing from VH in the late 80's was the soul that Dave brought to the band.

1984, their entire body of music to date had been written by then so there would be more substance to the show. to attend a show where they would play their entire catalogue would be a dream come true.

I don't know him personally, so hate would be a bit extreme. I am however on a 2 decade journey of boycotting all things Van Hagar.

Again, hate is too extreme a word for the situation. Let's just say i have zero respect for him as a person based on certain interviews where jabs at Dave and their legacy together were delivered.

I should, simply because i don't like spineless people who are nothing more than "Yes" men.


10. How do you define a sheep?

I define a sheep as a person who follows anyone or anything blindly without ever voicing an opinion that is negative, especially when a less than "ass-kissing" opinion is warrented.
Anyone who saw Van Hagar Live and says that Spammy's Halen was better in any way than Dave's Halen is a full bore Sheep Shitter and must be taken behind the wood shed and shown the ways of independant thinking while being beaten severely with a hickory switch.

Yes, he had a couple of tunes prior to his joining Van Halen that i did like. Of course that all went to shit the moment i learned he was Dave's replacement, haven't been able to respect him since.

Couldn't do it, there are no songs from Van Hagar i consider tollerable to my pallette.

I started in 1999 on the Official VH site, found the army in 2000 and instantly knew there was no better place to be than here.

I found Slawterhouse when the forum was still there, but disregarded it in favor of listening to the Dave-reading-the-book clip over and over again. I remember finding the army before it was down...still had no clue about message boards. I did find Warf's "Enema" version of "Panama" and fucked up IRC with it for like a day. Some months later, I checked out the wall, and someone posted something about DDLR on there. I surfed on over there and started posting....I still think Lesfunk's EVH tuba avatar is one of the gratest of all times.

Roth came out of the gate with the funniest, most ferocious, best Van Halen album that Ed, Al, and Fag Hag never played on. When I first heard it and 5150 I finally understood that even if a band has only been changed by one member, it can make all the difference for the worse. However, if one band member is the soul of the entity, if he can hook up with three like-minded indiviuals, he can keep the faith and the spirit alive.

"Wild Thing" by Tone Loc.

"Tobacco Road". Yeah, it's a cover, but the Yankee Rose band fried that song in deep oil and kept it seeped for a little too long. Burnt away any recognition or regard for any other version.

Three - twice on EEAS (the second time was one of the best fuckin' concerts I've ever seen in my life), and one time the last time he played NYC.

I don't know. Honestly. While I may define VH the best, after a few listens II and WACF start getting better and better, even if they're not as catchy the first time. Fair Warning is a masterpiece and so grate because it's so different from the others, while Diver Down's and 1984's musical diversity do make for unique albums.

Let me just say this: the ONLY thing I don't like about the six pack is 'Dancing in the Streets'.

Oh, man... same thing here. I do love the covers of CFTH, the creativity and musical brilliance of EEAS, I like the overproduced sound of Skyscraper - funnily enough, I've always hated synths and still do - I fell in love with ALAE the first time I heard it, and the bluesy/hard rock feeling throughout the whole album never fail to put a smile in my face, while YFLM's musical diversity puts it right up there with Alan Parson's Project's 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination.' DLR Band is a grate album after a few listens, with a lot of grate tracks and I love every single tune on DD.

Again, let me put it in another way: the ONLY thing I don't like in Dave's solo career is his voice on DLR Band.

Ironically, THIS is an easy question for me. ATBL sums it all up pretty nicely. So does Panama... and even though generally speaking I HATE synths, I'll Wait is a very melodic track with one of Dave's best vocal performances ever. And Bottom's Up and Beautiful Girls... AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Let me just say this: the ONLY thing I don't like about the six pack is 'Dancing in the Streets'.

Yeah, the first VH album I ever listened to was FUCK when I was about 8 or so. I remember it DID blow me away, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I guess it wasn't that big of a deal afterwards, since I gradually lost all interest in it... I am a bit curious about listening to it again, but I can't shake the feeling that it'll be like watching He-man, or McGyver again. Kinda like, "Oh man, I can't believe I used to like that... Jaysus, what a dumb kid I was!"

I was Googleing for David Lee Roth, and I found the Army. I registered to download stuff, but it was so chaotic and low quality I decided to go for Kazaa instead. Almost a year later, I came here out of curiosity and... stayed. The only place I had ever posted was at a Michael Kiske forum. But the guy is a cunt. I'm still a big fan of him, but I'm glad Helloween don't have him anymore. Kinda like the opposite to VH, Helloween. THE SINGER ruined the band. Go figure.

In all honesty? It might become - if it's not already - the best forum at the Army.

Yes, sadly. After 1988, though, it was mostly force of habit, certainly not because I cared. And after 1995, not at all save for the 1996 reunion. I played Van Halen 3 a few times to celebrate the loss of Sammy Hagar, but overwhelmingly didn't like it, although there was some fine guitar work at times. As far as the BOBW nonsense, I downloaded the three new songs for free, gave It's About Time a spin or two, and listened to the first 20 seconds or so of Up for Breakfast and Learning to See before deleting the profanity off of my computer and have not listened to them since.

13. If you had to pick a Van Hagar song you would consider "listenable" or even "good", what would it be?

"5150" (the song), maybe "Humans Being"...I can stomach through both of those and that's because of the music alone, it's got nothing to do with Sam.

I have lurked around (unregistered) at MANY Van Halen forums since 1999 and been a constant reader. I haven't gotten involved with any of them until joining here (finally) a little over a year ago...I might have made one or two half-assed posts at the links sometime in the LONG, LONG AGO (back in '99) under some stupid user name or another, but never really got into the place.

1. Van Halen is my favortie album just because its the first one I got. Its funny I didnt really know about VH and i asked my parents for some good cd's for xmas so they got me a couple compilation cd's and VH1 and i thought it was the best thing ever. its truly my first real cd ever.

2. EEAS is my favorite because its the only album that i dont skip a song on i listen from yankee rose to thats life and everything in bewtween....but ALAE and DLR Band are gaining steam

3. Favorite VH song is hard just because i love them all but i guess if i had to say it would be On Fire just because its a song that every time im in my car and listen to it i just feel like putting the pedal to the floor and going 100 mph
