One of the best bargains I got was a couple of days before Little Texan started this thread. Being a lazy fuck, I decided to write it today, 8 months later.
After moving in to me new home, I needed a TV, so I went and bought one. Having just moved out, however, I wasn't going for a Plasma or LCD. Expenses were many,m as it were. So I went for a flat screen old fashioned tube.
The problem is, there was only ONE flat screen TV there, it was slightly damaged on the edges and missing the remote. Meaning, it was hardly new. Probably used. And they weren't expecting any more tube TVs. Those were the last. After that, it would be all Plasma and LCD.
So, I told them I'd get the TV IF they lowered the price and throw in an universal remote. After all, the image was still grate and it had one of the the best sound I ever heard on a TV.
After a bit of haggling, they lowered the price substantially. Enough so that I could get a DVD player with XviD with the discount.
So, basically, they offered me a DVD player with the TV.
As for the lack of remote... I usually only watch cable. The box has its own remote. The TV automatically changes channel if I turn on the DVD player, then switches back to cable when I turn it off. Sound is controlled by an amplifier where everything is connected - the DVD, the cable, LaserDisc, VHS, computer, etc...
But still, the most awkward thing, is that the guy who sold me the TV looked EXACTLY like Bueno Bob. Man boobs, er... I mean, ruffled shirt and everything.
It must have been an alias. It's the only logical explanation.

I worked at a Goodwill store in the 80's. Didn't pay worth shit, but some of the stuff I picked up in the process made up for it.
Sometimes it's amazing what kind of vinyl people will just throw away. Picked up some vintage albums there at 50 cents each, minus whatever my employee discount was. Some original Creedence albums, the long out of print debut album by Country Joe and the Fish (featuring the original "Feel Like I'm Fixing to Die Rag")
But the biggest score was when this bunch of old Elvis 45's and EP's came in. The EP's have been out of print since the 1950's. All mint condition.
I said "Don't even bother putting these in the bin. I'm taking every last one of them."
They put a price tag of 1.99 each on them, which was 10 times what any other 45 cost there, but a ridiculous steal for such collectible stuff.
I've seen them go for as low as $10/ each on ebay or gemm.com but that's still 5 times more than I paid for them.
They probably were worth more when turntables were still a competing format and before the entire Elvis catalog had been released on CD in 666 different ways.

A 1979 Lamborginihi Countach 400S for $20,000. One aluminum body panel needed repair and we overhauled the engine in our shop. She runs like a top now and the car is worth $100,000 easy. It's all original including the six Weber carburators.
Very well built cars actually but they were built in a tractor factory so they should be.
A 1933 A-65 Johnson outboard motor. The owner thought it was junk. I tore into it and found it had very little running time since the original crosshatch marks were still visiable on the cylendar sleeves. Solidified oil had froze the motor, not rust.
I paid $10 for the motor and she runs great now. All I had to do was change the spark plug wires and gaskets.
You can run the exhaust under water for quiet running or run it straight out of the cylendars for power. The gas tank has a sight glass on it and it runs a big three bladed brass prop.
I see these motors restored like mine with new grips and decals go for $1,000 on Ebay. The original price in 1933 was $135 so it was an expensive motor then.
