I've heard Zeppelin good and bad in boots from the '70's.
Page broke a finger sometime during the '75 tour so I'm not suprised some of the concerts had limited guitar ability.
The fact that he was kind of a coke/herion junkie starting in '75 and continuing onto the '80 Tour over Europe made for some erratic performances as well, both good spots and awful.
In fact, I don't think Jimmy really beat the hard drugs until about '84 or so; and Live Aid was a good try but mostly lousy.There was a definite improvement with The Firm concerts of '85 and '86.

He says "I was forced out of the band, but that was back in 1995, and not a lot has happened since then".

He talks about how messed up spEd was in 2004, and he says he and bassplayer have seen the photos posted of spEd all over the internet and busted up laughing.

Oh god....I had to turn it off when Jay asked him if he wanted to sing with the house band and he got up and started to sing "Why Can't This Be Fuck".

Truth be told, he seems like a nice guy, and the dude has had a great life in some ways. He saw Jimi Hendrix at Monterey while he was tripping on acid.

It cannot get any better than that....to witness the greatest single moment in Rock History while tripping.

Lucky bastard.

But he still ruined Van Halen.

Jay Leno used to drive a Lamborghini Countach in the 80's and he had it over at Claudio's for a tune up (those six side draft Weber carburators will drive you nuts). Lambo V12's tend to miss when you let up on the gas so the tune up guy sees those a lot. Anyways Jay is picking up his car and he hears some idiot reving the shit out of a very expensive Ferrari. Jay is thinking that idiot is going to ruin that engine reving it that high from a cold start. It turns out the idiot was Sammy Hagar.

Sam is a better businessman than an artist. That's his key to success right there. The guy is smarter than the average rock star when it comes to business and he always surrounded himself with good musicians. Sam would have gone nowhere unless he was in some great bands. Sam probably would have made a good band manager but he got a taste of the stage and didn't want to give that up.

Andrew came back from visiting his father, and he told me he'd polished
silver during his stay. I thought to myself, 'How funny; that's my
mother's silverware.' Sam had a library built for me too, and I had
several beautiful books I had collected over the years. I asked him if I
could have them back, and he said no."

"Sam always told everyone how horrible I was during the divorce, and how
I went after him. He has no idea how easy I was or maybe he does. When
my lawyers got involved, right away, they started thinking Sam had moved
money and hidden it somewhere. They saw that he was a lying, cheating
jerk. The way to get to Sam is through his money. If you mess with it,
you're in big trouble. In the beginning, he was furious about having to
give me anything. He said, 'Betsy, you spent all of the money you
deserved while we were married. You shouldn't get a penny!' He seemed to
forget that I was the one who was responsible for redecorating and
furnishing all the houses we lived in. I bought all the clothes and our
food. Sam didn't go out and do any of that stuff. It was so comical of
him to accuse me of spending all this money on the family, yet he would
go out buy Ferraris without thinking twice about it. Finally, Ben
Winslow, his attorney says, 'Hey look, this is California. You have to
give her half.' He was totally upset about having to give me anything.
Again, I didn't care about the money. All I wanted was for Sam to come
home, and at one point, I thought he would. When I flew into Los Angeles
to see my attorney, this one particular driver I knew from the limousine
service we always used met me at the airport. He told me he had picked
Kari up one time, and they started talking. She said, 'Look, don't
worry. I know about Betsy. Sam and I are just going to have fun; he
won't leave her.' Obviously that didn't last very long."

Him and the bassplayer laughing at how fucked up eddie was, is sort of a douche move.

Now, I know that we at the army have gone "what the fuck?" at the pictures we've seen and made fun of the man.but that's different than the role sammy had with the guy.

He toured with the man, proclaimed to be "Brothers" with him, and made a lot of cash because of him. Without EVH, there'd be none of his shitty tequilla or bars

it's just poor taste and really sad. I mean, for as much as two were in a fight much of the past decade, I don't recall Dave taking a chance to kick Eddie while he's down.

Sam is many things but stupid isn't one of them. There are no accidents with Sam. Everything is calculated. He has finally decided VH is behind him for good and Mike is no longer part of VH, so it's time to vent the dirt for revenge and make money while doing it. Sam is burning his bridges which really is a fun thing to do and his book just went to #1 on the New York Times best seller list. Sammy Hagar has made more money off of Van Halen than any other member.

And you have every right to be proud of your boy, afterall, he's making quite a bundle. It doesn't matter how he's making it because the only thing that matters is money, right?

I hope for your sake he manages to remain in his current tax bracket. I wouldn't want him to let you down or anything......
