heres the thing - its obvious that the Hagar catalog will sell MORE when the reissues come up! now, they didnt do it with the roth albums, but if they include bonus tracks that didnt get released on the original releases, then theyll sell even MORE than just normal reprints.

the reason they didnt put bonus tracks on the roth reprints is because theres not a lot of unreleased roth material out there. thats according to alex van halen, and since hes in the band, hes the authority on the matter and he oughta know. why would he lie? besides, alex said that having bonus material on those albums would change them and theyre not into redoing their old records.

know why?

because van halen is A FOREWARD MOVING band. a band that doesnt look to fallen icons of 25 years gone to try and do something modern, something relevant. now youd probably ask about sammy if they dont look to the past and thats easy. sammy and alex met for lunch before all of this happened and it was like time had stood still for the both of them - they both picked up right where they left off as if they hadnt missed a beat! you cant say that about those 2 songs that david butchered on the best of vol. 1 album. david sounded HORRIBLE and DATED, and apparently they could write with him either because they had to use leftover SAMMY songs that dave could rewrite just so that they could actually get something done!

and learning to see was a very in depth song about relationships and reflected the more mature side of van halen as proven with sammys skill in lyric writing.

if david had recorded any of those songs, theyd be unintelligable junk or just lyrics about sex and girls that arent interested in a balding 55 year old spandex wearing gorilla.
