As far as Russel Crowe goes, I don't really know much of what he's done cos I've only seen "Gladiator" and "Beautiful Mind" and I thought they were both stellar.

No, what I'm saying is that GLADIATOR is no more sophisticated than CONAN or even a Kung Fu film ("He killed my master, he must die", "He killed my wife, he must die"). It has absolutely no depth whatsoever. It's just action and pretention and melodrama. Nothing really wrong with this...but it's just not that fucking exciting and certainly not deserved of praise the way something like AMADEUS or ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST or other Best Picture films are.

CONAN deserving an Oscar? Fuck no. But it's better than GLADIATOR.
