You know, Styx was really a great band, weren't they? I truly feel that their highlight, their "golden years" if you will, were between 1976 (the album in question being "Crystal Ball") and 1981 (album that year being "Paradise Theater").

I think they kinda lost the plot with the "Kilroy Was Here" album, though. While Styx was always at least somewhat Broadway influenced, "Kilroy" really kinda jumped over into the whole Broadway aspect, and far too deeply.

That's not to say that there's not some outstanding material on the album - songs like "Heavy Metal Poisoning", "Just Get Through This Night" and "Double Life" are enjoyable listens, for sure.

It's really tragic when you stop to think that Styx is, to the general public, the "Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto" band and nothing more - there's a whole world of outstanding releases that the general listening public really isn't greatly aware of.

But I do like zebras, because their stripes are pretty. So I've got that going for me, along with the Larg, and it's a veritable 1-2 punch to most naysayers.

It's nice.
