How, in the Katrina debate, can we be talking about racism?
Shit, man all the fucking gas stations here in South Mississippi were lined up 10 cars deep today with people wanting to get fuel just in case Rita makes a slight shift in our direction.
Three weeks after Katrina and I'm still without phone or cable but unbelievably I still have a house.
I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...

I suggest everyone get up and go gas up the cars now, tomorrow the prices will begin rising again and this time we probably won't get back down to what it is today, ever again.
I had half a tank and saw $2.46 at Sunoco, so i topped off.
Right now gas is .10 below Pre-Katrina prices here in my town.
I'm glad your home was spared the devastation by the way, that's awesome.

Pardon the silly question, but....

You have a point, but i'm still not willing to grant a pass for the states handeling of the event.
It was still a failure on the part of every level of government involved.
Why it was a failure does raise questions, just none i have yet to see a valid explanation of that point to racism as it is claimed.
I mean what was New Orlean's view just today on Rita and the amount of rain that may cause more levee breaches?
The official word was they are going to "Wait and see what happens".
I just hope the waiting doesn't lead to more deaths.
I have been through two Tornado's in my life time, so i have it built in not to fuck with mother nature when she gets pissed off.
My ass and my family would have beaten the rush to exit the path of the storm, and with minimal thought about it.
Every single element of my family lives in the state of Texas.
Most rite in Houston they have packed up their stuff and boarded up their houses countless times. If you don't and its a bad one, you die.
Life is That simple .
Plus stand back i lived in NO and Miss for 3 years let me tell you.
Aside from the loss of life NO needed a fuking douche. That city is still
full of the rottenest piece of Sh@t human trash ive ever been involved with.

I'm on Bell South DSL and I talked to the computer techs at work and they said it wasn't uncommon to be without phone and still have internet service and vice versa. I could give a fuck about phone, honestly.

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton praised anti-American activist Harry Belafonte on Thursday after Belafonte charged that U.S. foreign policy had "wrecked the planet."
"There's a lot of people out here who are really pissed off," Belafonte told the Congressional Black Caucus, with Mrs. Clinton and Rep. Charlie Rangel standing nearby.
"Our foreign policy has made a wreck of this planet," Belafonte complained. "I'm always in Africa . . . And when I go to these places I see American policy written on the walls of oppression everywhere."
The former calypso singer's anti-U.S. rant won immediate praise from Hillary, who stepped up to the microphone and told the crowd: "What Harry said is so important."
In quotes aired nationally by radio host Rush Limbaugh, Clinton explained that in last year's presidential election, "we heard a lot . . . about moral values. And you know as well as I do that there's a big move on to get people to forget that it's not only private morality, but public morality that needs to be looked at and considered."
Hillary then charged that the Bush administration had made "a concerted effort to make it even harder for poor people and non-English-speaking people and elderly people to vote in this country."
Clinton was followed to the podium by Rep. Rangel, who wasted no time in disparaging President Bush as a racist.
"George Bush is our 'Bull' Connor," Rangel railed. "And if that doesn't get to you, nothing will be able to get to you, and it's time for us to be able to say that we're sick and tired and we're fired up and we're not going to take it anymore!"
Mrs. Clinton offered no objection to the president of the United States being compared to one of America's most notorious racists.
Rwanda happened under Clinton...I guess he hates black people more than Bush
Katrina...799 dead...some of them white!
Rwanda...An estimated 1 million people were killed within a three month period in 1994!
