I'm recovering from a Christian Reformed upbringing.
Christian Reformed is very similar to Catholic but without the big family.

As for the bible being the true word, please. The bible was written by man to justify and unite a political power base and to implement social control. Christianity is nothing more than an emotionally abusive death cult that evolved from an amalgam of Mithraism, Judaism, Goddess worship, and Gnosis Mysticism.

I do, however, like Genesis 16:6b background: Hagar (a servant of Abram) conceives, making Sarai (the wife of Abram) jealous. Abram tells Sarai to do to Hagar whatever she wants.

It's a man-made story. If you take something out of it and it enriches your life, then good.

However, those who believe it is just a book of man-made stories, shouldn't have to hear about how "God" wants us to do this that or the other thing.....especially through government.

Not to mention the great debates I had with my ex-fiance's Bible thumping racist dad trying to use scripture to justify his hatred, and how I was "Tainting" his daughter....fucking jackasses, one and all.

Well yeah....there is no rational thought when it comes to religious fanatics.....They are right, and anyone who disagrees with anything they say are wrong. And there's no point debating witht hem, because they won't listen.

It is amazing how so many miss the entire basic true points and meaning behind the teachings of the old and new testaments. They cling for their very lives to bits and pieces written by men that do not refelct the overall meaning of the teachings because they refelect their narrow, self centered, myopic, and ego driven beliefs. They live within the little picture trying to frame the big picture to their selfishly ego driven viewpoints.



God will always give you a chance to learn from your mistakes though. There is always hope.
