That is a rather simplistic interpretation of the points that Keith is making in that video.

His comments are delivered in the context of Habeas Corpus in relation to the other items in the Bill of Rights.

Let's take a look at the trasnscript:

    #######

    Olbermann:

The reality is, without habeas corpus, a lot of other rights lose their meaning.

But if you look at the actual Bill of Rights — the first ten amendments to that pesky Constitution — you'll see just how many remain.

    Well, ok, Number One's gone.

If you're detained without trial, you lose your freedom of religion, speech, the press and assembly. And you can't petition the government for anything.

    #######

It never ceases to amaze me how casual conservatives are about the possibilities of losing our freedoms.

Are you really being fooled by the post-911 menatllity rhetoric? Or do you just take your freedom for granted?

Yes, I may have minimized the point a bit. But no more than Keith Olbermann maximizes it.

The odds of dying in a car accident or lightning strike are far greater than the odds of dying in a terrorist attack.

Those in control are empowered by your fear of the boogie man terrorists and it is in their best interests to keep you scared.

Do you still have the duct tape and plastic on your windows?

You know your habius corpus has been fucked when Department of Homeland Security thugs drag you out of bed and whisk you off to a CIA secret prison in Syria where you recieve electrical shock torture. Under the Patriot Act they can now legally do this. Trial and innocent until proven guity has been whisked away and a loophole exist to where anyone SUSPECTED of being a terrorist (whatever that really means) is screwed.

The Constitution still stands unless we let it fall. Anyone who doesn't get why the Bill of Rights has the Second Amendment is a cock brain.

It's kind of hard to fuck over people who are armed and know their rights. If the feds want to start a civil war over Constitutional Rights, bring it on motherfuckers.

This country is strange. The pro gun conservatives (especially in Utah) have their heads up their ass while their "John Wayne with a tight ass" hero Bush systematically carves away at their Constitutional rights. Holy hell! Where's the John Birch Society when you need them?

The Socialist, Gay loving, Hippie Dip Democrats see the reality and are going "HOLY FUCK!" they are taking our rights away. Come on you environmentalists and gays! Let's arm ourselves and stand up for freedom! LOL!
