See but you had the choice to go to a place that didn't have smoking sections. The local family restaurant im fine with them saying no smoking, where it gets idiotic, though, is when the government steps in and tells a bar owner, or club owner, that he/she can't have smoking in the building they pay for and pay taxes on.

Also recently Dallas passed a no smoking anywhere type thing, where if you are just walked around downtown and smoking it's a ticket, which is also bullshit.

And you had the opportunity to be courteous and smoke outside. I chew tobacco, now imagine that you got to swallow my spit.

Just because some bullshit studies claim that second hand smoke is the most dangerous thing on earth, when you can't prove that it does shit to someone.

I'm not going to knock smokers. My father was a smoker and I saw him get a lot of shit for it, and he was one of the polite smokers. I don't think it's right to treat them as second-class citizens and I think it's stupid to ban smoking from bars.

However, the second hand smoke thing DOES affect people. I spent a lot of time around it as I grew up. My lungs resemble a smoker's so much that the specialists I have to see now for my adult-onset asthma don't believe me when I tell them that I've never smoked anything in my life.

Just like you can get a contact high from being around pot smokers, you can get all the "benefits" from being around tobacco smokers.

Of course breathing in second hand is worse than breathing fresh air. But the way they make it second hand smoke sound is much worse than it could ever be.

My younger sister came up to me a month or two ago and said that she was told second hand smoke was worse than actually smoking.

What kind of b.s. is that? Just like big tobacco tried to cover up the risks of smoking for so many years, the people out there that hate smoking/smokers want everyone to think of a cigarette like its heroin.

I see more commercials about smoking than anything else, more than drunk driving, or substance abuse. its nuts. I just want a fair shake.

First up I quit smoking cold turkey 9 months ago. It's quite tough but all about a state of mind - I've never given up heroin so I'm not sure but how about comparing second hand smoke to second hand smack muggings and murders? What I don't do now is wander around being a prick about people smoking like ex smoker assholes like Bloomberg. It was the asshole ex smokers that started the 'get smoking out of bars'. Fuck them and their weak hypocrisy. I'll admit that going to bars after a few beers it can take a bit of willpower not to smoke but that's up to me to deal with not to turn around and say people shouldn't smoke.

Second what happens when the public health nazi's come after beer next? It's started already over here and then it will be fattening food. For example Hillary said she would ban junk food if she could.

And back onto the original post I think it's great Obama is a smoker.

Shows he's not some robotic fucking non human. ALL highly driven people have something. If they don't booze too much, they fuck around, take drugs or are fundamentalist christians and secretly do all 3.

If Obama's got a little smoking vice that's the best you can hope for. Plus he's young and obviously a casual smoker because proper smokers can't do as much exercise as he does.

One was that when you go to a shop even a Wal-Mart type place you had to join a separate queue(line) to pay for alcohol like a naughty little boy. That bill didn't get through.

Fortunately the worst excesses of this are stopped because people could just do 'booze cruises' and get cheap stuff from mainland Europe if they push it too much.

In places like Sweden you can only buy booze from government shops which are only open a few hours a day and charge a hell of a lot more than you would pay in the US or UK.
