First up I quit smoking cold turkey 9 months ago. It's quite tough but all about a state of mind - I've never given up heroin so I'm not sure but how about comparing second hand smoke to second hand smack muggings and murders? What I don't do now is wander around being a prick about people smoking like ex smoker assholes like Bloomberg. It was the asshole ex smokers that started the 'get smoking out of bars'. Fuck them and their weak hypocrisy. I'll admit that going to bars after a few beers it can take a bit of willpower not to smoke but that's up to me to deal with not to turn around and say people shouldn't smoke.

Second what happens when the public health nazi's come after beer next? It's started already over here and then it will be fattening food. For example Hillary said she would ban junk food if she could.

Fuck, our governor is talking about imposing a HUGE fat tax on all soda, except for diet. Why? Because it's making us fat.

Apparently if we have to pay double what we are now for it, then we will be deterred from consuming it. They saw this work with cigarettes and now they're doing it to soda. The plan is that we'll buy diet soda and water, which will be cheaper and healthier for us.

What pisses me off is that they're not addressing moderation or portion size. They're just going to make it as inconvenient as possible for you to enjoy something because they know better. That and Pepsi and Coke are HUGE employers in Downstate NY. This would definitely hurt them and us when the area is already down.

And let's not get into Bloomberg's new 5cent grocery bag tax.

A better approach would be to tax the shit out of the soda companies until they stop using High Fructose Corn Poison. And the other food companies as well. And take the tax out of CEO salaries, don't pass them on to the customer.

As for the grocery bag tax, I'd be for something like that, as long as you also got 5 cents off for each paper or plastic bag you re-used at a store, or if you bring your own reuseable bags (canvas/hemp/nylon or whatever)

Of course breathing in second hand is worse than breathing fresh air. But the way they make it second hand smoke sound is much worse than it could ever be.

My younger sister came up to me a month or two ago and said that she was told second hand smoke was worse than actually smoking.

What kind of b.s. is that? Just like big tobacco tried to cover up the risks of smoking for so many years, the people out there that hate smoking/smokers want everyone to think of a cigarette like its heroin.

I see more commercials about smoking than anything else, more than drunk driving, or substance abuse. its nuts. I just want a fair shake.

You do realize that Big Tobacco are the ones behind those campaigns. It's part of a settlement deal that took place years ago.

And like I said, I have nothing against anyone because they smoke and I'm not trying to take away your fair shake. However, when you make douchebaggery comments such as:

I can easily not drink domestic Coke or Pepsi. I have enough alternatives, including good old unsweetened beer.

It's a little more difficult finding something to eat for breakfast or even a fucking jar of pasta sauce that hasn't been polluted with that shit.
