The Canadian Forces are smallish. But they are well trained, well equipped (to an extent), well paid, and have some small numbers of top flight equipment. Most of their soldiers in Afghanistan would look identical to US troops to the layman. Examples of equipment would include the CF-18 Hornet fighter-bomber (like the ones flown by the US Navy and Marines), Leopard II tanks, a whole host of indigenous wheeled armored vehicles that the US also uses variants of, and diesel attack subs for which they try to monitor incursions into Canadian waters with.
