On the subject of HFCS, what I've read is that it also prevents the person from feeling "full" while eating it, whereas sugar does trigger the brain to say "that's enough". Obviously then, when someone is eating or drinking the stuff, they will tend to ingest more of it than a food/drink with sugar.

They just passed a beer tax (package store purchase's) and a hike from 5 to 7.5 sales tax in MA. This was supposedly so the tolls on the Ma pike and fairs on the MBTA wouldn't go up. Well, what do you know? Now they're saying that's not enough, that those are going up too. Plus the reg of MV doesn't send renewals notices out anymore because of cutbacks. And since that caused a spike in people being written up for expired licenses/registrations the state is thinking it might be a good idea to substantially jack up the fines for that to deal with the "Lawlessness" of it.

Water prices for tap are thru the roof here in the city. And don't think bottled is any better. Hell, our state gov't is talking about putting taxes on bottled water.

Odds are you're paying the city for it being piped in. Then you're paying for some sort of filtration system to make it drinkable, after they have dumped all the chlorine and other chemicals in it (god forbid, Fluoride in some places)

Of course theres an artesian well down the street where I can get the best drinking water in town for free..... but I'd have to load all the water bottles into the car and burn the gas to get there, so even that's not free.
