I wonder if they didn't have anything to do with this, they would still take credit for it.

Great.... so now somebody made up another fake "Al Qaeda" franchise in some other Allah-forsaken desert shithole, in order to tie it to the actions of a random lunatic from a completely unrelated Allah-forsaken shithole country?

This guy is another random lunatic tool who didn't know shit about building bombs, just like that asshat Richard Reid. Guess if he's the "shoe bomber" they can call this fool "the underwear bomber". Either way he has about as many connections to the rotting corpse of Osama Bin Laden as I do.

He was wearing an explosive diaper. They just showed what was left of it on ABC News, looks like his nutsack must be broiled off and a passenger said it looked like all the skin was charred off his legs--serves the fucker right!

Just how this guy got on the plane is fairly fascinating. Here is a report from two of the passengers on the flight.

"Kurt Haskell of Newport, Mich., who posted an earlier comment about his experience, talked exclusively with MLive.com and confirmed he was on the flight by sending a picture of his boarding pass. He and his wife, Lori, were returning from a safari in Uganda when they boarded the NWA flight on Friday. Kurt and Lori Haskell are attorneys with Haskell Law Firm in Taylor. Their expertise includes bankruptcy, family law and estate planning.

Haskell said he and his wife were sitting on the ground near their boarding gate in Amsterdam, which is when they saw Mutallab approach the gate with an unidentified man. While Mutallab was poorly dressed, his friend was dressed in an expensive suit, Haskell said. He says the suited man asked ticket agents whether Mutallab could board without a passport. "The guy said, 'He's from Sudan and we do this all the time.'"

Mutallab is Nigerian. Haskell believes the man may have been trying to garner sympathy for Mutallab's lack of documents by portraying him as a Sudanese refugee.

The ticket agent referred Mutallab and his companion to her manager down the hall, and Haskell didn't see Mutallab again until after he allegedly tried to detonate an explosive on the plane."

Janet Napolitano (Homeland Security Director) stated on Sunday that the "system worked".

Apparently that system was do absolutely nothing and allow passengers to fend for themselves. "The passengers acted correctly, the crew acted correctly". Fine, if you're going to do nothing, our taxes should be nothing.

Errr, ooops. HAHA. After a day of the media running with the story she had to change her statement. “Our system did not work in this instance”

Wonder if she got a call from Hawaii. Nah, was probably from Rahm.

Other reports have said the man in the suit appeared to be of "Indian descent". Indian or Pakistani? Either way, this is starting to smell funny. Now we just need to find out who this Nigerian banker dad/former government official is friends with.......

I couldn't believe some of the reports I have been reading. The WSJ reported that Nigeria was saying there is no terrorist activities in Nigeria. Implying there was not a hostile attitude toward the US. I'll go find the article....I couldn't ...
Nigeria was acting like they are all hokey dory and no lunatic fridge. But go listen in on some chatter from the vast criminal network in Nigeria and you will hear how a majority of the cyber criminals feel they are "doing a blow" to west. I recently got into an argument with one and his logic "They are taking from the one that is taking."

Moreover, the Damned banking networks protect these scum suckers. And so does the governmental agencies in Nigeria.

It is bullshit when it is said that Nigeria is not hostile toward America. Their whole culture revolves around draining funds from America any way possible. And those fraudsters believe they are using their corruption to throw stones at the "oppressors"

This whole thing sounds like one great big joke and bullshit the way it is being reported. Nigeria banking system is not our alley or friend. Their daily business is to rip off the imaginary oppressors in any way possible. When they them Damn selves are the oppressors. GRR.

It is not that difficult to listen to the chatter. Go do it sometime. Fucking get in a real conversation with one of these dweebs. They will jump at a chance to tell you the "perceived" motive behind the industry of scam in Nigeria. They think they are doing a noble cause. And it is bullshit, that the newspapers are slurping up the Nigerian Prince letter from Mr. Goodluck.
                    For God's sake!
This could not be written any more B grade movie script.

The more I read about this the angrier I get.
The whole damned media is falling for a Nigerian Prince scam. Good fucking gracious!

Sentencing of 'Shoe Bomber' Richard Reid

                          Ruling by Judge William Young

January 30, 2003 United States vs. Reid. Judge Young: Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.

On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General.

On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutive with the other. That's 80 years.

On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years consecutive to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 for the aggregate fine of $2 million.

The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.

The Court imposes upon you the $800 special assessment.

The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.

This is the sentence that is provided for by our statues. It is a fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence. Let me explain this to you.

We are not afraid of any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is all too much war talk here. And I say that to everyone with the utmost respect.

Here in this court , where we deal with individuals as individuals, and care for individuals as individuals, as human beings we reach out for justice, you are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier gives you far too much stature. Whether it is the officers of government who do it or your attorney who does it, or that happens to be your view, you are a terrorist.

And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not treat with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.

So war talk is way out of line in this court. You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You're no warrior. I know warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal guilty of multiple attempted murders.

In a very real sense Trooper Santigo had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and where the TV crews were and he said you're no big deal. You're no big deal.

What your counsel, what your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today? I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing. And I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you. But as I search this entire record it comes as close to understanding as I know.

It seems to me you hate the one thing that is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose.

Here, in this society, the very winds carry freedom. They carry it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom. So that everyone can see, truly see that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely.

It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf and have filed appeals, will go on in their, their representation of you before other judges. We are about it. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bear any burden, pay any price, to preserve our freedoms.

Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. Day after tomorrow it will be forgotten. But this, however, will long endure. Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America, the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done.

The very President of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged, and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.

See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America. That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. You know it always will.

Custody Mr. Officer. Stand him down.
                          .....................

You know, the bottom line of it is this - when all is said and done, personal security is often times going to be up to individuals alone. Regardless of HOW stringent airline security gets, regardless of how many quadruple checks, strip searches, cavity searches and so on get done, sooner or later somebody is going to figure out a way around it.

Thus, it's going to sometimes end with (God forbid!) individuals stepping up to the plate during times of emergency to ensure their own safety. Luckily enough, the people on this flight figured that out.

Republicans will blame Obama and the Democrats will throw the blame on the Bush administration and so on and so forth, but the lesson here is that people need to be proactive when it comes to their own safety and not get lazy and relaxed thinking that security has all the angles covered because quite often they do not. And here's the lesson to prove it.
                            Twistin' by the pool.

Exactly Bob, no matter how tight security is you have the human element to deal with. People are not machines and will make mistakes or have lapses in judgement. That's a fact of life.

The bigger issue and the only issue, IMO, is dealing with the root cause of why these people want to kill us. Anyone with even half a brain knows that poverty and no education is the biggest recruiting tools terrorists have. Sure, our foreign policy over the last 10 years has not helped but if you look at who the majority of the people who actually carry out the attacks.....very few are highly educated and wealthy. Just like we send the poor to fight our wars and the rich/influential rarely ever are put in harms way, the same applies to terrorist.

I am not saying we should back down or try to appease terrorist but at some point and time we have to realize that trying to fight terrorism using the outdated methods we use will not and has not worked. You can't fight these people conventionally and invading a country will never stop terrorism. I still believe that this so called war on "terra" needs to be fought by our special forces and spies. Sending 30,000 troops or using a surge method will work in the sort term but will never work in the long run. Occupying countries and regime change is an abject failure.

I want to kick the person's ass who came up with the phrase "War on Terror", it such a fucking lie. First off, Enemy Combatant status, basically classifying a person or persons as non-military, therefore not bound under war time laws. So how can we have it both ways? We are at war but the people we are at war with are not soldiers......that's about as dumb as lending banks billions of dollars interest free, to lend back to us a 30% interest.....Oh wait! We are that dumb.

It doesn't take millions of dollars or thousands of people to make a terrorist. Classic example, Timothy McViegh.

All it takes is one person who has the motivation and has a little luck, to successfully strike anyone or any place.

                                Very good points K-K...

I'm a little surprised that these terrorist jackasses continue to focus their targets and innovations on airlines. Granted it's a high profile target... but it's also a point with the highest focus of security measures.

There are so many other areas with virtually no security... buses, trains, buildings, bridges, dams, power grids, etc... that don't require much, if any stealth or complexity to compromise. I guess we can be thankful these jackasses have blinders on...
