Yeah. Funny thing, one night my girlfriend & I were coming north a few miles before the checkpoint. Some other driver was loaded out of his mind. Swerving, almost went off the road several times, & nearly took out a bunch of other drivers. We called 911. We stayed behind him and hit the checkpoint before the CHP got there. Girlfriend got out & ran up the line of cars screaming "Don't Let Him Through!!!". They saw how sauced he was & made him wait in his car in secondary for at least 45 minutes until CHP arrived to test him. We had to wait too & give statements. He was arrested & no one was hurt. But this checkpoint & it's employees couldn't do shit about it. Real cops had to be summoned.
And this law passed in AZ seems nothing new, in fact mirroring current Federal laws. It just gives the local authorities the power to enforce what the others are unable (or unwilling) to do.
People are up in arms protesting the enforcement and enforcers of the federal law. Their anger is misdirected. Change the law, don't complain about the enforcement of it.
