Thom Hartmann was describing their system last week, and I would have to agree it sounds far more logical than groping and radiation. The challenge with the Israeli system is focusing on psychological profiling, as opposed to race or religion based. For example, if you're only looking at brown people with names like "Ahmed" and "Mohammed", then you wouldn't catch the Tim McVeigh types.
Most disgusting thing about this is that the pornoscanners are owned by none other than former BCE Reichland Security boss Michael "of the Devil" Chertoff, who is himself an Israeli born dual citizen and is obviously familiar with the procedures used over there. Unfortunately, the Fourth Reich is not interested in doing anything on a psychological level, aside from national propaganda and psy-ops.
The TSA think the heavy-handed approach is best. I think the Israeli approach is best. Oh well.Comment

The thing is, this system of security is all about government contractors selling equipment and pocketing the money. It's about taking more rights away and letting the people know the government owns their ass. It's about flexing government muscle and not real security. It would be easy to smuggle explosives past the TSA. If they were serious they would use explosive sniffing dogs. We used them at Hanford. The problem is former Homeland Security officials don't make any money and they can't humiliate you with dogs.No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

You need an organized minority to change things. I think we have enough pissed off people and the TSA just adds to the motivation. It's time to wipe the Bush/Obama abuses with our ass and toss it out. We can start this January by defunding the abusing programs and agencies. I've been hearing one side of the airport screening argument saying we should not pat down everyone, but profile people. The other side screams racial profiling is wrong. This was the same argument that happened with Arizonas SB-1070 illegal immigrant law.
I have been profiled my entire life. I buy cigarettes or alcohol, if I "appear" under a specific age I am required to show my ID card. If I enter a bar / night club and "appear" under a certain age I am asked to provide my ID card. There are border checkpoints on the freeways here in southern CA where if I "appear" a certain way I am asked additional questions. If I do not answer them to the authorities satisfaction, I am taken to the side for a more thorough search. When I was little I couldn't go on certain rides or in to certain movies if I appeared under a certain age. I don't get the senior discount at Dennys because I don't "appear" over age 55.
So what is so wrong with taking people aside before boarding an airplane if they appear to fit the profile of a terrorist? It doesn't just mean brown skin, or muslim, or Arab, or young. Similar to the border checkpoint guards, these guys are highly trained to know what to look for. People acting nervous, darting their eyes & view, twitches, stuttering when answering, etc....
There is a huge difference between discrimination and unfair discrimination.
Drivers over age 65 pay more for their car insurance than younger drivers. Why? Because that age group has a higher rate of accidents. 16 year old pay more than 40 year olds for the same exact car insurance. Why? Same thing. 16 year olds have a much higher accident rate and therefore pose a much higher risk exposure. It's not based on the individual, but the exposure their entire demographic poses. So why aren't people screaming how unfair it is that teenage new drivers have to pay double or triple what a middle aged person pays? Because we know it's correct in assessing the risk. A young man flying in from Yemen on a cash paid 1-way ticket probably poses a greater risk than the American couple with 2 kids traveling round trip from Ohio to Indiana. Or the newlyweds traveling round trip from Los Angeles to Honolulu or Acapulco.
This whole TSA thing is insane. Putting tens of millions of Americans through advanced screening when we know damn well we are looking for a tiny % of a specific demographic. Could a white 7 year old girl from Iowa be strapped with a bomb? Absolutely. But the risk posed does not justify the procedures we follow. We are heading down a very bad road here. Very soon we will all have to have ID cards, iris scans & full body scans for passage anywhere. Worked great for James Bond gaining access to the secret files. But not for hundreds of millions of people. All in the name of protecting ourselves. Is it worth it? I don't think so.
