I would say our traditional parties have been hijacked. Issues like national security, capitalism, and health care have all been spun to favor a few at the expense of everyone else. Instead of getting protection, we get harassment and wars. Instead of free market capitalism we get fascism. Instead of affordable healthcare we get a monopoly that forces you to pay or else.

Now balancing the budget is being used as the new crises to take free market wage bargaining away and put corporations in charge of elected government.
