FAIR TAX Anyone?

A personal and corporate tax rate of 17% or so. No tax deductions.

An idea proposed by both Democrats and Republicans in the past.

It greatly simplifies our enormous tax code.

We'll have a cutoff so the poverty-stricken don't pay (say a family of 4 below $30,000 a year).

Everyone else ponies up the pesos. Sorry, most of you not paying a dime in income tax now or getting a full return will have to start paying.

It'll take care of the deficit in a fair, equitable way.

I say we do what is truly fair and go back to the Eisenhower era tax rates. After eliminating the loopholes.

Why is this fair? Because it would eliminate the very thing that is killing this country - the goddamn useless Wall Street speculation casino. There's no incentive to steal from people if it all goes to the taxman.

People want a free ride. They'll want their Obamacare, Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid...while paying down the deficit...all with "taxing the rich" and no one else. It just isn't possible, folks.

Brian...I am as conservative as anyone here (ask Ford). I don't want a free ride and even when down and waaaaaaay out didn't even think to ask. And there are people that abuse the system....horribly. I wonder how much we would save if we only gave to the truly in need, and not the leeches of society.

I am not cold hearted, and I truly believe when a man is down, you extend your hand. If you have but 1 fish, you fucking split it in half with him. HALF! Yeah your tummy growls a little bit, but you will survive the night.

I don't know man. I'm fucking drinking away my own problems tonight (merlot - yuk...all I gots). Prob losing my house & can't afford gas to commute to work to get my next paycheck. I'm almost out of my deceased moms heirlooms to pawn to be able to feed myself and my dog & keep the utilities on. But you know what? Tomorrow morning.....I will drag my ass out of bed, turn on JUMP, and somehow find the motivation to push through and not cap myself....hopefully. That's the plan anyways.

As written, the proposed bill has a tax of aprox 20%, we recieve ALL of our paychecks back as well as not paying income tax,
it gets rid of ENORMOUS amounts of "tax law, and the areas that the government uses to "bury" obscure other information that they prefer remain hidden from the public.....

EVERYONE pays.
the rich, the middle class, the poor, visitors to the country, ILLEGAL visitors to the country........if you buy something, you pay tax on it
ALL PAY....

And Elvis, it would work....it WOULD decrease the deficit in a matter of 10 years or so, but you are right about one thing....the government does not want to give up the control...so the "Fairtax Bill", which has been proposed over and over again, and has backers from both the Republican and Democratic side, has simply faded away into something that only a very few of us have heard of....fewer still have done research on....
