If the Legislative Branch, specifically the white Republican House in this case, doesn't want the Executive Branch, specifically the black Democratic President in this case, to get anything done, they just obstruct and extort their way for his whole term....

Include the absolute bullshit Filibuster rules nowadays, and it's four years of spinning wheels....

Of course, to the vast majority of the American people, who just don't pay attention to these matters very closely, all they see is that the economy is going down the tubes, and it must be Obama's fault.....

I can say that looking at this without any partisan affiliation, that the way the US political system is working right now is a complete mess. Nothing new here, but seriously...look what was at stake and both parties created a circus. The Republicans have more blame in this and S&P's report said as much.

The next day there were at least 3 Republicans ignoring the explicit warning of teh S&P report and digging a deeper hole in which the credit rating can fall again in a year's time.
