No it's a semi-automatic rifle with a 100 round drum in the magazine well. Rifles are defined by how the trigger group and bolt system is set up. An AR-15 has a semi-automatic trigger group. The term "Assault Rifle" is a military classification term of a weapon that serves both the purpose of being a single shot semi automatic rifle or a full automatic rifle. The first of such rifles was invented by the Germans in World War II.

The AR-15 is not a military rifle. It's a civilian rifle that was invented by Eugene Stoner when he was working for an aircraft part manufacturing company by the name of Armalite. Stoner used new materials used in the aircraft industry like aluminum alloys and new plastics to make a light wieght rifle. This impressed US Air Force brass and became the base of what the M-16 was founded on.

The M-16 is by classification an assault rifle. It can go full automatic or semi-automatic depending on where you have the selector switch set. The current M-16A1 rifle have the three round burst instead of full auto which shoots three rounds then the trigger needs to be pulled again. This was done because soldiers were wasting ammo keeping the trigger down too long.

Also the device carrying the 100 rounds is not a clip. It's a magazine. A clip is what is used to load a magazine. They usually hold five to ten rounds. The M1-Garand uses a clip. An AR-15 uses a magazine.

I owned a commercial building. One of the tenants was remoldeling his space and the electrician needed access to a closet in the basement to run some conduit. It was a heay duty wood door with a commercial grade Schlage lock. None of my keys worked on it so I tried to kick it in. It was impossible. It would not budge. I then borrowed a big ball peen hammer from one of the contractors and hit the dead bolt hard two times and that sheered the screws and knocked it off the door. Then I just turned the bolt actuator and opened the door. If it was an inset lock I would be drilling the thing out.

So yeah. I don't think you would be able to just kick in one of those big heavy duty fire exit doors and he theaters want those secure to keep people from sneaking in to see the movie for free.

Yeah because the M-16 is a select fire assault rifle. You turn the switch to auto and it goes automatic and you turn the switch to semi and it's one shot per trigger pull. Or with the M-16A1 you have the three round burst. If you have a Polish Tantal you have all three options. Full Automatic, Semi-Automatic, and Three Round Burst. I would hope the military trains to place single shots instead of just spraying and praying.

They know how many guns you buy. You have to fill out a form and that gets filed with the ATF. They also have to do a background check with the FBI. Some states have waiting periods. Ammunition is regulated by the states and they all have different laws. I can remember when you had to sign paperwork everytime you bought ammunition. I imagine what he bought was a bunch of cheap Russian stuff. I have a match grade AR-15 I use for target shooting and it actually says I void my warranty shooting that shit. Apparently the jackets are made of mild steel and not copper and it wears your barrel down. But then a mass murderer doesn't care about such things.

I always thought it was where the people who couldn't cut the higher math classes went. They either go into political science, social work, or education. That new math they all shoved into the public schools in the 1970's did a ton of damage. I got my early math education in Hong Kong instead of the US public school system and when I came back to the states I was way ahead of most the students my age in math. I always felt the Rockefeller Foundation had the goal to ruin the US family unit and dumb the public schools down.
