Wow, I hate to disagree with you, as I agree with just about everything else you post, but by your account, your saying he would not have attempted harming so many people had he not had access to the weaponry? I feel, for however this poor soul has been defective in the head, his thoughts and intelligence would have lead him down a different path for achieving destruction. The stupid fuck would thrown as many molotov cocktails as he possibly could into the theatre if that was his only resource.

Now think about that for a minute. All he really needed was one grenade and no guns at all to kill even more. 2 sharp butcher knives hacking and slashing away at people in a dark theater would not have wounded as many people but he still would have killed some. The dude is a crazy fucker and he was hell bent on killing. Like i posted earlier. His mind set was probably already known by his psychiatrist even if his full intentions of what he was planning to do probably wasn't. There's always clues and others that have direct contact with people like this dude, that now after the fact realizes they should have been more pro-active and not hide behind a doctor/patient code and talk to the police instead of thinking they could cure them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not known what he'd begun seeing a psyychiatrist for yet...while it's easy to imagine his shrink instantly knew he was mental, isn't it kind of a jump to say the doc should've violated the paiteient confidentiality agreement?

So I'm not misunderstood, I agree totally that his mission, or whatever the hell it was, was made easier because of his access to shit no average civilian should ever have access to. I just think he would have caused chaos another way. A slight person with a creative mind can cause a lot of damage without getting his ass handed to him by a police force. Hence, his apartment rigging.

There's no doubt, it's easy to pull a trigger, but on the other hand, it's the mindset of the individual that wants to kill, and the weapon of choice is just a tool to do so. He could have went in there with just a 12 gauge with it's plug removed and killed 6 people instead of 12 and injured how ever many more. A gun with however many bullets it can hold is just a piece of metal and can't harm anything or anyone. It's the person and their mindset that is the real weapon.
