I might come at this from a left field angle , am a history hound.
Am British and am not saying its all roses over here far from it but I am proud of parts of my counties history ie the abolition of slavery , woman's suffrage etc etc but in particular the welfare state . I hold the likes of Attlee and Bevin in the same high esteem as you folks over the pond hold your founding fathers.
They are beacons of social reform.

And although the national health service may struggle mainly due to mismanagement at government level and under funding over the years it is still a wonderful institution and a shining light of what can be achieved if people dare to have a social conscience.

This country is rapidly growing and too big already for a huge sweeping centralized government to be in total control...

The states have rights and 26 or so have filed suite against the federal healthcare bill, so...
