The sister in law of one of the top honchos in the mormon church lives in our subdivision. We have a big sub division breakfast every summer where we pick the new officers and settle the business at hand and socialize. Well this Mormon general authority was there at the breakfast and I was shooting the gab with him. We were talking the future of the church. He admitted to me the church was not growing and the only thing that was holding it from decline were the members breeding new members. I said so the missionary program isn't working. He said most people who join the church don't stay in long and have no family pressure to hold them into it. I asked why put such an effort on missionaries and he said that was to keep the young men from leaving the church. He said their research showed if they served a mission at age 19 they usually came back and married a mormon girl and that kept them in the church.
So which brings us to Glenn Beck. Usually only people with some big issues join it, in the US. In third world countries people are trying to make some contacts in the US to better their lives. Usually one of the Mormon converts is a guy who has a drug addicted past and is desperate to find new friends and start a new life. Sometimes they are dating a mormon girl. Usually after they get baptized they become fanatic. They get more gung ho on the religion than the born in church crowd an drive the rest of them crazy. It's true.
Glenn Beck is the poster child for the modern Mormon convert. Why he moved to Texas is he's too crazy even for Utah. LOL!No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment
