A convicted felon cannot legally own a hand gun. I believe the laws vary from State to State on rifles and shotguns.

Yes, if both of these shooters were felons with previous convictions then by law they should never be in possession of a firearm. You can be placed in a mental institution time and time again and still have the right to own a gun. This is why both Smellvis and Von have theirs. There has to be an adjudication process in order to make it a crime.

Probably a poor analogy all around though, considering Japan was under the rule of an emperor prior to World War II, and has been under a Prime Minister and parliamentary system post-war, so it's essentially a different country.

I don't give a shit if sane, law abiding people own a reasonable number of guns, as long as they are capable of responsibly using, and responsibly securing their own weapons.

But the Jared Miller convicted felon wackjobs should not be allowed anywhere near a gun. And if that means eliminating gun shows - or limiting them only to licensed dealers who do background checks, then so fucking be it. This goddamned madness needs to stop already.

I love it when the line between legally purchased handguns and illegally purchased handguns gets all blurry and shit. Seems pretty clear to me. In my state, you can't go to a gun show and purchase a handgun without a permit. Long guns - shotguns and rifles - also require an FBI background check.

It is my opinion, that anyone not following the law when selling a gun, is a criminal. So, yes, I agree. The guys selling guns ILLEGALLY at gun shows, should be stopped.

But I can walk up on just about any street corner in Detroit and purchase a gun illegally. I am a law abiding citizen, so I don't do that. Nor do I do drugs, like Kris-ty.

Like I said before. As long as there are criminals, they'll figure out a way to get their weapon of choice, whatever that may be.
