I blame the government on all the AR-15 sales. If the politicians weren't trying to control everything in site and passing things like The Patriot Act and NDAA and spooking the public, then I doubt they would be so popular. People aren't buying them to shoot pigs, they are buying them because they make them feel safer. If people trusted the government more because it proved itself to be more trustworthy, then you wouldn't have the big demand for those types of guns that we have now.
The whole gun control push as of late has totally backfired. It's fun watching Biden and Obama try and put the toothpaste back in the tube and back peddle. Then if you look at the overall statistics, very few people are killed by those kinds of weapons. It's mostly media hype and frankly those murders happen because someone went nuts for whatever reason. Bad things happen and will continue to happen. I've heard these arguments my whole life and they have gotten old. The first assault rifle ban didn't stop Columbine. It was dumb.

What should have stopped after Columbine is the insanity of gun shows selling whatever weapons to anyone with cash, regardless of age, criminal record, or lack of sanity or three digit IQ.
In that particular case, the guns were purchased by a third party who willingly gave them to two psychotic juveniles.
And both that person, and the militia wackjob who sold the guns in that manner should have been charged with 12 counts of murder and 21 counts of attempted murder. Just like the piece of shit who owned the Bullseye gun shop in Tacoma should be charged with the DC sniper killings. Anyone who sells (or other wise furnishes) a gun to a criminal/psycho piece of shit who commits one of these murders is just as guilty as the fucking piece of shit who pulled the trigger.

Yeah it's mass times velocity on paper but you have issues of penetration and bullet performance. The 5.56 NATO is a hotter round than the standard .223 round that varies in it's bullet weights. The military uses the 5.56 NATO round because you can carry more rounds of ammo and the light recoil makes it easier to shoot. It's a round that is fine for coyotes and that sized game. No deer hunter in their right mind would use it on that sized game. It's a small round and does not have the bullet weight or penetration for larger game or tough game like hogs. Also if you are eating it, you don't want the tissue damage from tumbling and fragmenting bullets, you want something that penetrates, mushrooms out and dumps all that energy into the animal. Then with stuff that charges you, you want to use something with some knock down or knock back power. A marlin 336 lever action in 45-70 is a popular pig gun. You want a big soft bullet.No!
