On the radio news I heard a quote from some anti-gun lady at a rally talking about assault rifles. She said...

"no one needs an assault weapon. Those are for war"

I thought, exactly. That is exactly why we need them. In the event we the people have to go to war. I truly believe the founding fathers intended the citizens to be armed just as an invading army would be to protect or sovereignty, freedom and liberty. And not rely totally on a volunteer army led by a few men who could be easily corrupted.




*and yeah yeah, but the armed forces have airplanes, helicopters, ships, smart bombs, etc... But 330,000,000 armed citizens is gonna be a rough go.

Again the only US citizens that can legally own an assault rifle are people who have a class 3 firearms license. An assault rifle is capable of full auto fire and is a machine gun. You aren't going to go down to Big 5 and buy one. You can buy a semi-automatic rifle. It can be a Ruger 10-22. It can be a DPMS or Bushmaster AR-15. it can be a currio and relic Yugoslavian SKS. It can be an M1 Garand and on and on.

The media has everyone so worked up and playing the emotional response button people have no idea what they are talking about. M-16's and AK47's, AKMs, Ak-74's, Tantals are already illegal for most citizens to own and those are real military weapons. And yes the second amendment says individual citizens can own firearms so if militias need to be formed the citizens have arms. It states the militias should be well regulated but never says the arms need to be.

Not regulated as in monitored or registered, or any other Big Brother intrusion...
