Interestingly, Elvis was recently posting cherry picked incidents where people used AR-15's for "home defense" (as if they couldn't have used a 9mm pistol or 12 gauge shotgun for the same thing). There was a particularly gruesome story about a 15-year kid that mudered his entire family, and shot his father in the back with an AR-15...

Hmmm glad this wasn't posted a week ago. I would have wasted brain time thinking about bullshit...

Spent last week on business travel. TSA folks were all fine, polite and professional. Only saw one person being harassed and it was some dumbass that refused to empty his pockets before going thru the scanner and he had a pocket full of change and a fricking pocket-knife... it wasn't some kid either... middle aged white guy in a business suit. Go figure...

No, a well regulated militia basically means the National Guard. Or in some of the Southern states at the time, it meant squashing potential slave rebellions. It never meant a bunch of lunatic militia nuts and paranoid Alex Jones fans hoarding military weapons.

Gun politics in Switzerland are unique in Europe. Switzerland does not have a standing army, instead opting for a people's militia for its national defense. I would support a decrease of funding for the industrial military democratic machine, which creates boondoggle expenses for equipment the military says it doesn't want to preserve jobs in districts of powerful politicians, so that the nation could afford to increase education funding allowing for 12 month school yrs with longer school days and raise the age one can drop out of school to 18 - if that includes 1 yr of partial school day military training for males (and perhaps chicks too) or a full yr of military commitment so be it

The exercise and discipline would reduce obesity - the longer days would reduce latch key kids with most families having 2 parents working well past 2pm or 2:30 when kids get out of school - and the military training might improve the gratefulness of citizenship, or connectivity to the nation and community participation in politics / civic planning

It would also take the boogy man stereotype from firearms if the majority were familiar with them and possessed them with knowledge of safe use
