Yeah, but only John Denver could hear him. And even he apparently couldn't hear him all the time, or he wouldn't have flown that piece of crap experimental plane.....

The plane was fine. It helps to put fuel in the tanks before taking off. I'm a big believer in checklists. You are busy getting a plane ready and it's easy to forget some stuff. It's easy to forget to put the landing gear down. Always use a checklist!

Ultimately, the cause of the crash was the fact that Denver failed to refuel the tank. That, plus a lack of training. It seems that he was distracted from flying while trying to grab a handle controlling fuel flow. Experts think he spent the last moments of his life trying frantically to switch from this main tank to the reserve one, not realizing that they were both empty. Whoops.
Flying is like scuba diving. It's a by the book sport. Failure to follow the guidelines can result in death.

I watched the video. He's confusing being "big enough" and being "effective". They are different things.
I've got the cure you're thinkin' of.

No, actually that was his whole point.

The original caller to the radio show was throwing out the typical right wing "big government" talking points, and Thom was pointing out the fallacy in that argument, that blindly cutting government would not only decrease government's effectiveness, but also replace it with corporations, which by definition care about nothing but their profits.

Effective government is obviously the best solution, but you won't get there through austerity bullshit cuts. The cutting of government over the last 32 years, and the concurrent rise of unregulated/under-regulated predatory capitalism has failed this entire country, except for the very few who profit from it. The solution is to get corporations out of the government and get back to government of the people, by the people, for the people.

It's not how big it is. It's how you use it.

The problem now is the corporations got in bed with a private bank called the Federal Reserve and bought the government. So this corporation vs. the government argument is no longer valid because they are now the same thing. When you have presidents that spend huge sums of money and a congress that has no incentive to take it away it's a sure sign the central bank has taken over because the more debt the nation is in the better for the bank. Why? The country will default and the bank will want real stuff as payment. Then everything gets privatized in the end and the share holders of the central bank own everything and everyone is a debt slave.

It's the banks. That is where the problem is. Who is getting richer right now? The banks. Who loses? The average citizen; especially the middle class. The welfare class will lose as soon as their votes are no longer needed.

Well then, let's find out who's sitting at the desks where the drones are controlled from, and tell them to take out Gold Mansacks, Chase, Bank of Unamerica, and the other economic terrorists.

Exxon and MonSatan too, for that matter.

You would kill innocent people in the process. The Securities and Exchange Commission threw Martha Stewart in prison but nothing has happened to John Corzine and he stole over $2 billion. The laws aren't being enforced. You will be tossed in prison for having some weed but if you stole your customers money on Wall Street, nothing happens to you. The Federal Government is not enforcing it's laws or doing anything about it. It's broken. The SEC and the FBI could end this real quick and who do they work for? Gee. Mr. Obama. One loser president after another. All of them crooks themselves.

We only need to look to Iceland as the example. Their politicians were going to sell the people out to the banks but the people rose up and told the politicians if they did so, they would be tossed from office. Most politicians are cowards and opportunists. They are power addicts. They hate nothing more than the thought of not being re-elected. Sheep get sheared. If they think they can con you, they go for it. You only get the respect you demand and in politics it's a numbers game. They have the citizens fighting each other because of their Left vs Right Kool Aid drink. We need to toss that crap to the side, stop fighting will each other and target the politicians and tell them to get the bankers or else.

There's just as much, if not more, corruption in the federal government than there is in large corporations.

Yes, but only because the corporations got control of the elections, so they could put their lackeys in place.

Repeal Shittizens United, throw the electro-fraud machines on the scrap heap like the Irish did, bring back paper ballots & the League of Women Voters to run the debates, and dismantle the corporate media.

Do these things and we will get our country back.
