We still get the snowbirds shortly after or around Halloween. Occupancy in Pinellas County reduces in the spring and we have the summer vacationers. The best beaches are "local"' and mostly not crowded. I've lived everywhere but really love Florida. The sun and women are truly what makes my world go 'round and it's all here. Spring break, the Keys, regattas, Cuban cuisine and hand wrapped Cuban cigars from Ybor, the theme parks, and the nations oldest city. Florida is a world trading mecca. And sail boats are on the Gulf horizon along with the palm trees, the gulls, dolphins at sunset. NASA and the whole space coast along with Cocoa beach. Daytona Beach and the race track. Miami has South beach and the beautiful Hispanic women and their mesmerizing languages.

I have friends who live in Florida. I have been hearing (especially during the Jeb Bush reign) about the stupidity of the Florida state government for many, many years.

Now that I've ranted I will agree that most of the people around me are pretty stupid, but that would happen wherever I was. Except maybe Canada or Great Britain or anywhere in Europe or the good parts of Asia.

There are pretty stupid people everywhere, there are millions in Great Britain.

The difference is maybe we don't usually let them run our schools or politics but I'm sure there are ways you can minimize how much that personally affects you.

Here as you say, we spend most of the year looking out the window at our back garden and each time we visit Florida I have to give a reasoned argument on the plane home as to why shouldn't just move there.
