Is it the direct-mount rout? Think there's an option to specify with or w/o a mounting ring on his online order form. If so, just get some wood screws and slap that puppy in there, that's what I'm doing!

That's what I would have thought too, but the last couple of guitars with direct-mounted pickups (the EVH at NAMM among them) - even if I didn't necessarily dig the pickups themselves - have had something going on to them harmonically and overtone-wise to the point where I want to give it a try. Worst case scenario stick some foam or a couple o' chunks of a Popsicle-stick under the pickup if it needs to be higher!

A Ti Big-Block has a way of even sounding good w/shitty amps...can make what would be a crap sound passable by virtue of the guitar alone almost...

Put it this way: I got VERY close to that cool, modded Plexi tone... with a fuckin' solidstate amp!! Borderline boner-inducing.
Gotta try it with the Laney...

And I don't know why, but this one feels... different. Might be the smaller body, might be the skinnier frets, might be just the block, but the total effect being what it is...

Starts off with some clean tones (neck, neck+bridge, bridge) from where it's off to distortion-land... (same order of pickups)

Plenty of snotty goofs in there, though.
