        Even I've gotta say it:

Chinatown has got to go from the set...

I suggest Honeybabysweetiedoll...the lower voice songs have always been your best sound anyway, Dave!

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

I wouldn't miss Chinatown. Musically it's pretty slammin' though. HBSD would be a good replacement. Great solo.

He pretty much sucks at this point and the ticket prices are in the stratosphere...

                    Prediction:

Van Halen as we know it is done after this tour...

Fuck that noise. There are great nights and ok nights. Even the ok nights have moments of brilliance.

Well...I said it in other threads but I might as well say it here too. Dave sounds like he just can't keep up with China Town. There are moments when the band just gets way out in front of him and it sounds like he's struggling to keep the pace.

I'm not sure that HBSD would be the way to go either. Those are some pretty rapid fire lyrics, and I fear it might just exacerbate the problem.

Maybe give it a go...but if it doesn't work the first time around just dump it.

What baffles me is how good other songs sound.

Dave pulls off "I'll Wait" pretty fucking good every time around, although his voice often cracks during the chorus when he reaches up for "I'lll Wait", and "Noooo Way..."

This whole discussion makes my stomach ache....

I was so thrilled to hear I'll Wait. It's been one on my favorites since 10th. grade. I had to play it every morning before I went to school. I can still remember my poor dad trying to get some sleep from working all night telling me to lower the stereo in the morning. I finally had to quit jamming in the AM, I did feel sorry for him. My dad is a saint I swear! He even drove me to the show on friday, something he always did for us when we were kids. Some things never change!

The new material, in general, is not sounding all that great live. The possible exception is 'She's The Woman'.

'Chinatown' is a little too busy......

Comparatively speaking, I think Dave is going through what Mickey Mantle went through in '68. Shots that would almost clear the park began falling shy of the warning track. I think Dave probably has a good ten more years of recording some great music, but I think the sun is setting a bit on his live gig. I hope the band sees the actual world on this tour because their work pace dictates the next tour would be somewhere around 2016.

STW does sound good live --- consistently good --- so they need to keep it.

I agree that "Chinatown" needs to go. Dave is struggling too much with it.

I would love to see them bring out "Big River".
