Yeah, my friend Billy Z never posted at this site, but he was a REAL Van Halen fan from the beginning, just as I was. And even more intolerant of Hagar.

I kept telling him "They WILL make another album goddamn it" every day since 1996. When he got his cancer diagnosis in 2002, I told him he damn well better not think of dying until he saw the Mighty Fucking Van Halen rise once again. I planned on taking him to the concert in 2007 with me, but sadly that turned out to be the last month of his life, and he was in no condition to go to the show.

Well, at least with JC and Satan both being members here, I know he got a chance to hear ADKOT, which ever direction he went..... and I know damn well he loved the record as much as I do. Just wish I would have been able to see his reaction when he heard it for the first time...........

The first person banned shortly after was a guy named whatthi... he was the very first Roth Army troll.

Then ed6150 came here after being banned from the vhlinks, and he was banned here as well.

Nothin wrong with loyalty... some folks live their whole lives camped in the same neighborhood looking at the same scenery. You appear to be one of those types... cool for ya.

Well....I would hope that you would feel that way. In a sense, ALL of us are "those types" because we're here at the Roth Army, pledging our undying allegiance to all things Dave and Classic Van Halen. We set up our tents at Camp Dave. If we were supposed to keep pulling up stakes and moving from "camp to camp", then we probably wouldn't have had such an issue with Hagar or Cherone...and this place might not exist....at least not in the widespread form that it does now.

Now others... well call them more social and nomadic... but fuck that, let's get right down to the primal roots of the matter. Many of us follow in the foot steps of out ancestors... moving from tribe to tribe... hood to hood. Not due to disloyalty to anyone or any thing... but for the simple purpose of spreading our seed and ensuring diversity in the gene pool...

Zah, I think you're one of the most intelligent posters on this board and I have a ton of respect for you, but I think you're trying to put lipstick on a pig here. I don't think that DLRF was started to spread diversity or to accomodate the wandering nomads of internet message board posters and I think some of the posts that have come up on this thread since late yesterday sort of validate my perspective. WARF, Warham and the others have made it pretty clear that their motivation was to protest conditions as they perceived them at the Army.

And they are completely free to do as they please. I just didn't understand why things had to go to such extreme measures. Like I said in my previous post...it felt like a long-term solution to a short term problem. Starting an entirely new site is a huge undertaking....so they must have had very strong feelings. I can respect that and disagree with it at the same time.

But it looks like cooler heads are prevailing, and THAT IS THE BEST THING THAT CAN HAPPEN.

I got involved in this whole "issue" because I love this place. I had been away from here for awhile because life is just too fucking busy and came back "steadily" just recently...and when I got here it was utter chaos. Sarge was giving up the site. VA Beach was going to take it. Then VA Beach WASN'T going to take it. A splinter group of old and new school members went out and started a new site. Suddenly I felt like a stranger in a strange land...and in 8 years I NEVER felt like that here.

I want it to feel like it used to feel, and I think we're on our way....
