They've made several attempts since 1991(ish) to get off of WEA and onto the Sony label(s), being Epic, Columbia, et al, but they've been met with differences in opinion as to royalties, distribution, etc., so Sony's probably off the table for them as well.

I've heard that Island/Def Jam has shown SOME interest, but it's been pretty limited interest.

More like than not, if they opt to release something that's not live or greatest hits or unreleased vault material (which will fall under the WB umbrella), they're looking seriously at indie labels...Spitfire, Sanctuary, etc., and that's a place that Van Halen Inc. does NOT want to be relegated to...for them, it's the final nail in the proverbial coffin, but unless they opt to put aside past differences and reunite with David, it's the reality they're looking at.

Personally, I think Edweird is going to be found face-down in a ditch, choked on a wad of his own puke, before anything happens with VH again. He's gonna pull a Bon Scott, Mike will end up following Sam around like a puppy, doing gigs for 800 people a night, and Monkey Boy will end up doing session work to pay his alimony to all his ex-bitches.

They are gonna end up on Sanctuary, no doubt if they keep up the current line-up. I'm sure the next hagorita thing will come out that way. With their egos, Sanctuary (ie the boneyard), will put it out and cut a one off deal. The others (Spitfire, Eagle) are too small for VH still.

Def jam? No fucking way. I doubt Universal would want to touch them (or sony for that matter) without the catalog coming with them. Too much money, too little return.

If Dave returns, maybe Warner would make an attempt (although that place is a house of cards as is right now), though not a large effort for it.

My guess is for them to return to prime, they need to first do a tour with Dave, then follow it up with a new studio album and a summer tour after that. Over and out.

THAT is your answer as to why Dave is not touring with VH. Sammy is a coward/tool that is willing to work for wages. Dave is an intelligent businessman that will only work for 25% of the profits (although he deserves 51%). As long as Sammy will work for peanuts, Dave will probably never rejoin VH. And since in their hearts of hearts both Sammy and Dave know what they are really worth, Sammy will continue to work for peanut wages, and Dave will only work for substantial profits.

Let's say they put out a live CD from this last tour.
You can bet your ass they have that fat umpalumpa (Wolfie) on it!
And i bet good ol dada will give him royalties instead of pocket money.
Mind you i guess when it bombs he will soon go asking for his pocket money back!
