Come on, dude. You're smarter than this, this attitude of yours "I'm gonna open up your mind" has never worked, since Adam got laid with Eve. We're sinners who love their sins, that's why we're here.
Roth is Van Halen's sole and only ticket. Even the Boozehound himself is aware of that, now more than ever. When he'll run out of money from buying his son the gargantuan amount of daily Dorito's he needs, and his brother will be broke after his 9th divorce, we'll certainly see a reunion.
Don't know if Roth was at his best with Van Halen, nor am I sure if Eat 'Em and Smile isn't "as good" as any of the 6-pack albums. Eat 'Em gets a lot more spin time from me than 1984 does.
Classic Van Halen never reuniting again? Sure, never say never and it wouldn't be that surprising if they did, and even if they did it solely for the money I wouldn't care as long as the music still kicked ass.
BOV1 tunes MWM and CGTSNM were Van Hagar tunes with Roth doing vocals over them? I can see where one could say that, but they showed some promise in terms of a future for CVH at the time (1996) beyond being a couple of novelty tunes and background music for a soap opera.
Maybe it's more a case of Ed's present writing style and outlook just not being compatable with Dave's. Think Ed's just gotten used to doing whatever he wants and having it be accepted. Probably why you never hear any friction in Van Hagar music - they're too busy smiling and patting each other on the back to disagree about the song content. Ed and Al toally run the band now. They're not gonna give an inch to Dave in any aspect. That's why putting CVH back together won't work. Ed and Al don't want to compromise their "leadership" and Dave will only meet them part of the way for so long before saying fuck it.
Not even a case of sour grapes here, or specious rationalizing on why a CVH reunion wouldn't work as a means of writing off something I'd like to see happen but believe won't anyway.
Would like nothing better than to eat my words and see those guys pull it off.

You are correct sir! Eddie cares too much for Dave to allow him to stand besides a pathetic old drunk, and a mute, bloated hot sauce salesman on stage.

The infamous 6 pack was nothing more than David Lee Roth's first 6 albums, with special guests Eddie and Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony. Don't fool yourself.
