What would happen if Dave got drunk with Ed tomorrow?

You know, if Dave just dropped by and decided, "WTF...when in Rome..." and started drinking.

    Would it help?
    Would it hurt?

Talk about a powder keg of possibilities!

Maybe it would facilitate rehashing the good times...

Maybe it would breed unbridled contempt and 911 couldn't be reached 'cause there's no "11" on the phone....

Maybe Dave and Wolfie would lay down a cover of "he ain't heavy, he's my brother" with a tipsy EVH at the mixboard.....

    Would there be fisticuffs?

Would there be burying of hatchets?

    Discuss.....
I always thought Alex & Dave was more the problem than Ed & Dave!

That's true. You'd think with Alex having the brain capacity of a goldfish he'd also have the memory retention period of one as well.... Shame that he hasn't though

            HAHAHHAHAHAHA! NICE!!!

As for "reestablishing friendship", don't hold your breath. Everyone involved - Dave included - has stated MANY times that they were NEVER friends. They just knew they made great music together and everyone involved realized that their collaboration resulted in 1+1+1+1=50,000,000. Even at the height of their popularity, Dave - his own words - never felt a kinship with his bandmates.

The only reason for the two of them to be in the same room would be to make music.

And GREAT fucking music at that.

Wouldn't matter to me if Ed and Dave became friends unless some killer new music came out of it. Same as whatever happened in 2000. Pretty much a non-interest unless some tunes result from it.

Apparently those two never got along that well to begin with. Didn't stop them from forming the nucleus of classic Van Halen and making music with power, authority and style.

Ed couldn't stop talking about what great friends he and Sammy were, and how great they got along. What came out of that? Pop fodder fit for a Teletubbie movie soundtrack.

The music Ed contributed to that made a difference to me was born out of creative tension. Dave and Ed would have to walk on eggshells with each other now to make a reunion work, Alex would need to sit back, shut the fuck up and play his drums, and all four CVH members would have to play with a purpose beyond a one-off reunion cash-in. That's one trifecta I'm not betting on.
