Jon of course had to take a dig at Dave.

    God they were terrible.

No, he saves that hatred exclusively for the Jester.

I've never seen either clip...fuck Jon Stewart, though...just once, I'd love to hear somebody get Hagar on and say "You know what, you're fine for what you do, but when it comes to Van Halen, you're the 2nd cat, Sam. I like David better - as does most of the planet."

      Just to watch him fume.

We had something close to it, Van Halen did an interview with the local hard rock channel (KUFO) here on Coruscant and the guy interviewing them started off with "So...what happened on this album, anyway?"

To which Ed chimes in with "We were experimenting with growing the sound and blah blah blah" about the different recording things and etc etc...

The DJ says "That doesn't really answer the question though...why does this album SUCK is what I'm getting at?" (Van Halen 3 had been out for all of about a month or two at this point, I think).

Ed, Mike and Al left the studio immediately, and the DJ says "Well, there they go...ladies and gentlemen, Van Halen, or...whatever's left of them..."

      It was pretty amusing.
      Twistin' by the pool.

              Hey, bb,

Ever play Key largo, or the Moosehead?

What was that hard rock club downtown called in the early '90's that had 2 levels.??

Upstairs was where all the REAL shit happened.

I see Curtis Salgado is still rocking. He's Here in Seattle this week I think. I always hated his version of the Razorback's "more love and less attitude"

I've played there, yeah...not with any of my own groups, but I've done a few sit ins, years back...early to mid 90's, must have been, just sit-ins for the night with various guys. Haven't played either place for a while.

What was that hard rock club downtown called in the early '90's that had 2 levels.??

If it was downtown, I'd make the rough guess that it might have been the Roseland...back in the 80s, it was called Starry Night, but was sold and became the Roseland Theater...it could be one of several places, though...the Roseland has 2 levels, though.

Upstairs was where all the REAL shit happened.

That's the truth Been up there enough to know/see/experience all the grate fun first hand...

I see Curtis Salgado is still rocking. He's Here in Seattle this week I think. I always hated his version of the Razorback's "more love and less attitude"

Yeah, Curtis is still going strong. Hung with him once or twice, pretty nice guy...also nothing but positives to say about Dan Reed, really nice guy too. There's a lot of really cool, more succesful guys in Portland than myself, lol...I wrote some lyrics a year or two back for Deen Castronovo, had a cassette to work from...the guy who was singing for him at the time wasn't having a lot of luck, so he passed the stuff on to me. Really rough industrial heavy ass shit (probably influenced by his time with Geezer Butler), but I don't know if anything's ever gonna come of it or not

Good scene out here in Portland, I'm starting to think about getting back to it. Been away for a while now...
