What Most of the People didn't get about Diamond Dave release

This is the more sincere DLR ALBUM EVER !
    OK,They are all covers but,its 100% DLR,
those are his songs, the songs that describe him the most,
he covered the songs cause he loved them!
and wanted to share with us his good taste, while giving us
our diamond dave cd dosis, and send us a message on the song lyrics.
Its like an autobiographical album but he didn't wrote it.He just used
other people's lyrics to say something.
Remember the hidden messages on CGTSNM ? This is almost the same thing.
What most people didn't get and said this was an awful release
are the people who isn't diehard and doesn't know dave too much as most of here do,his stories, his adventures, his rothisms and his desicions.
They were all expecting a VH-LIKE album,oh yes,he can do it an album like that but he didn't wanted to!
Ray said there was lots of original material left,im sure he is not lying.
But Dave wanted to do this for his own pleasure and for the fans who really care, not for the ones that are expecting a VH album,Yougot the blues, not me
I think this is a great post,i thought about this everytime i listen to DD.
    And :spin: Its great !

Diamond Dave has some great songs.

Too bad so many DLR fans have heavy metal tunnel vision.

To each his own as they say.

I like the majority of it.

The Savoy Brown covers are killer.

Sheehan stated in an interview that Dave ISN'T a metalhead...it's always seemed pretty obvious to me.

He can do whateverthefuck he wants and I'd be willing to bet he could care less what folks think.

Would a DLR Band or EEAS type revival be the shit?

            Absofuckinglutely.

Being a huge fan of the guy, I'll give anything he throws out there the benefit of the doubt.

I was kinda 50/50 on it - good for what it is, but I'd have preferred an album of originals, ANY kind of originals, not necessarily hard rock ala DLR Band necessarily...but it would have been nice.

For what it is, Diamond Dave is a good rotation, but I kinda have to be in the mood for it.

Forced to pick my personal favorite, I'd call it "Bad Habits" easily; I remember hearing it while I was in the theater watching "Sgt. Bilko" and loved it.

I don't like his vocals on it. Instead of leading the band (technique be damned) he's following.

Listen to Everybody Wants Some!!!: he's not going to win any awards from the Berklee College of Music on there, but he was ON TOP of the song there, he OWNED the performance. On DD, he seems less confident, despite the fact that the vocals are more refined and it's technically a better performance.

It always seemd to me that DD was an open letter to Eddie: "I can sing! I can sing! Bring me back! Come on!!"

I love 'Diamond Dave'. But then again, I don't think there's a Dave album out there I don't like...

                          Cheers! :bottle:

I always liked tunes like Easy street, Tell the Truth,Ladies night in Buffalo, Sunburn, Experience . They have that easy blues feeling to it and thats what i love about Diamond Dave.

Tunes like Stay while the night is young, You got the blues, made up my mind, shes looking good, Even his version of Soul Kitchen, Bad habits, The new version of Ice Cream Man. All killer tunes.

Sure i would have loved more VH type Slamdunk meets Romeo Delight stuff but this is great. I think his vocals sound great and not forced and strained like on Thug pop. You can really hear the wear and tear on his vocal chords on that one.
