When you talk about TONE though and what it did for album sales my #1 fav guitar player who not coppies eddie per say but just used the full stacks that eddie GAVE him personally would be ...

    Jerry Cantrell *Dirt* ...

They had a promo for dirt ... I was there and got a bag of dirt ... kinney and bass dude signed my pack of smokes at Tower records ...

Cantrell used the 5150 head and cabinets on the recording of dirt ... you can actually tell he is too if you know what you're listening too ...

Broken down n' dirty dressed in rags ...

"What we've been doing, which is great and certainly cost saving, is I train in the sand pit in McDonald's. I do a few laps. I go through the tunnel a few times. The kids don't mind if I smoke. Plus, when I'm done, lunch is right there."- DLR 2003

They're SO different, they might as well be playing different instruments. And I agree, they sound NOTHING alike.
The question was about the Brown Sound. You can get into all the comparisons you want about technique and rhythm, etc., but my 7-year-old can hear the difference in TONE.
I don't know of anyone who came close to Ed. Hell, on the comparisons you guys have used, Akira Takasaki came close....
Akira Takasaki came pretty close ,you're right man!
