Barnsey used to be a great singer/frontman.
He fronted probably Australia's most popular band down here in Cold Chisel. They never really worried about making it big overseas.
Ed was right though,he wouldn't of suited VH.
I'd still say the funniest choice would have been my favorite singer among all those mentioned...JOEY RAMONE. Of course, it would only have lasted a few years because Joey did in 2001 of cancer. But that said, who on Earth can picture Ramone, Hasselshit, Jordan, Malloy, Coverdale or any of the other singers fitting in Van Halen.
Then again, the day I read at the VHND the "rumor" that Dave was actually not joining the band and they were considering Gary Cherone instead, I laughed myself silly...

Interestingly, THE DOORS cut two albums right after Morrison died that not many people have heard. And they didn't replace Jim. They just handled the vocals themselves and had some really interesting jams. Actually, the first album without him, OTHER VOICES, is really good. It's not really THE DOORS, but it sounds a lot like the continuation of L.A. WOMAN. The second album, FULL CIRCLE, is not that good, unfortunately.

Originally posted by Rikk Indeed. The current DOORS band is a sham.

I heard the first one you mentioned many years ago and get what you're saying. Howeva, when I think of The Doors I think of Morrison, ya know?
Bon Scott was more important to AC/DC (for me) than Angus even. Bon is the reason I love that band.
With Johnson, it was okay. But not the same...and definitely not the AC/DC I love.

Absolutely. JIM was more important to the band than any other member. When I listen to OTHER VOICES, I listen to it as an interesting record...not a real Doors album. I also feel less bitter towards that album than something like 5150 because they didn't really have a choice. They'd already written the bulk of the music and then they get word that Jim is dead. They felt horrible, and decided to just start cutting the songs. They were gonna change the band name...and they should have.

It's funny, I heard the Johnson stuff first. I was a little kid when Bon died. What happened is, in '92 I borrowed my friend's AC/DC LIVE album. And I listened to the whole thing (2 discs) and realized that I only really liked about half the songs...I didn't even know which era the songs I liked were from! JAILBREAK, LET THERE BE ROCK, etc. And then I checked out the Bon albums and loved them and didn't really like the Johnson stuff I picked up all that much. Now I'm pretty much a Bon loyalist. I think BACK IN BLACK and FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK are good albums...but basically, it's the original stuff I'm a huge fan of.

I grew up with Brian Johnson. I'm 27 so it's really all I'd heard until say, 1985 or so. My stepbrother had a cassette, don't remember what all it had on it but I kept hearing "Shook Me All Night Long" and "Dirty Deeds". It was two different voices so I never put it together that they were the same band you know? Fast Forward a decade or so later.... By then I knew the difference but I bought AC/DC LIVE! and I'm still a fan. I agree that Bon Scott is quite possibly the baddest mofo to ever pick up a mic. However, I can still hear "Back In Black" or "Hells Bells" and get pumped up. *Side Note* I saw the Sam and Dave tour in 2002 and I remember they were playing alot of hard rock before the show to get people in the mood.... (AS IF THEY WOULDN'T BE TO SEE DAVE) Everybody's mingling, talking, kiddin around, and basically just passing time till the show starts. So, "Highway To Hell" comes on and the place goes nuts. I mean they started cheering for a song on the radio and it made me smile and the hair on my arms stand up. I thought that someone came out on stage or something. That is one of the coolest concert memories I've ever experienced and it says alot about how a song or a band can have a magic moment that you'll never forget.
That is a TRUE story people!
I will always have a place in my music loving heart for Brian Johnson. Simply because he didn't shit on the legacy he inherited unlike the asshole who neutered my favorite band.
Really, what was Roy's career doing after "I Can't Drive 55" and before he won the music lotto? I heard it through the grapevine that motherfucker auditioned to cover NFL games as the Goodyear Blimp but didn't get the job cause his fat ass blocked out the sun and the stadium lights!
Seriously, to stick to the thread topic. I think Patty would have been interesting. Not saying it'd be great but it would grab my curiosity. If they went the "Santana" route I'd listen but wouldn't take it serious. I'd give it a chance.

so a bunch of us ran with it...
and sure enough...a German Newspaper ran a HUGE article on Hasselhoff joining the band...quoting posts over at the Links...
A guy named Jeff Harshman started that rumor and it was pretty funny when a German newspaper printed it as fact.

Oh for sure on that. I can tolerate the early Brian Johnson shit, but that fucker's voice is just mincemeat now. Painful to listen to. And Angus' playing never did a thing for me anyway.
