Yeah, I love Dave too, and I dig the sentiment, but I'd like to see him get some rotation on the radio with some new shit, and make someone besides the old crowd stand up and listen. I don't know about you, but I never heard anything off Diamond Dave get any airplay.

I'm not hatin' here, just looking for options (really just fantasy and conjecture on my part anyway), not like Dave himself is waiting on ol' BenJammin to help his career!

Sometimes, dusting off some halfway obscure song, and making it better can be a way for an artist to re-introduce himself to a new audience. Trying to remake something that was too recognizable or too much of a legend from another artist can get you in trouble (anyone think doing Stairway to Heaven would be a good idea? not me )

I think some of the reasons Pretty Woman and Really Got Me were so good for Dave/VH was because PW was vintage enough and definately out of the mainstream with what was being played at the time. YRGM was kind of vintage at the time, but had a lot of swing room for Eddie to really update the guitar parts and literally turn them inside out (and Dave really got into the vocals because he liked the song).

I guess my point was sometimes you have to come out of left field to surprise people.

Dave has been doing enough covers. Hell, he hardly plays any of his own material (read: solo DLR) in concerts.
What he needs to do is to find a good song writer to work with and release a new album. I would even dig if he co wrote something with a hit machine like Desmond Child if that would get him back on the map.
