Van Hagar Tour Commercial Using DLR Songs

If they're not going to play the Dave/Eddie songs on this tour (which to me - being that Dave is not there, shows some class), why usem' in the bumpers for the tour? Why ride Dave's coat tails?

Oh, I forgot - these guys are tools.

They dont have a prayer to sell tickets if they dont use dave's image, or songs in the ads. Thats the truth.

I was going to post the same thing, I JUST heard a commercial like this about a half hour ago on my way home. The commercial I heard, however, had the opening riff of "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" from the album, and then right after it a version of Slapnuts singing it live, which made me want to puke.

Not sure who decides all this stuff. May be totally out of the band's hands. From what I heard in the past two years, Van halen is lucky to have a tour or a record deal at all.

My local station is giving away tickets and running promos...all surround Classic Van Halen songs. It's a little sickening. We all know that Dave built that name as much as Eddie did.

However: Marketing geeks like myself don't ignore an opportunity. We're sluts, not necessarily idiots.

Come on guys! Hey, we are all Dave fans here, but face it. VH with Fagar I mean Hagar were pretty damn big. They had lots of fans and sold out major arenas throughout the 80s and early 90s, so you can't say they won't sell tickets. Obviously, they managed to obtain many many fans with Sammy, but!!!!!! We can say that the VH that consited of Dave was a totally different band and one that was much much better than Van Faggot! Point I'm making is that while we all know Van Hagar was nothing compared to Van Halen with Dave, there are a billion or so people in America alone and sadly many just have no clue as to what GREAT Rock & Roll is, so they hear about this new commercialized band called Van Halen and fall in love with it. Most of which never knew of VH with Dave because thats when VH were real and not mainstream ass kissers! Anyhow, all I'm saying is that you can't say VH with Hagar was nothing or won't sell out shows this year as there are many many Hagar marks out there. True knowledgeable fans sadly are out numbered by the mindless idiots who just follow trends and never do any sort of research into the music they listen to. These mindless zombies will fill VH arenas all summer long! Hell, these arenas will each become some of the largest graveyards for a day, with all the mindless zombies and ghouls that will fill the seats to see that other band Van Faggot!

In closing VH (w/ Dave) will always be the greatest R&R band of all time, but to say Van Hagar was nothing or won't sell tickets without Dave is not true either!

            Draugr

PS: I know a few people that I met through the years prove my above points. They heard of VH after the 1st Hagar album went commercial and they loved it. These people all admit they never heard VH with Dave before that and a few years later when they decided to obtain some of the earlier material, they all said they liked Sammy better and that Dave's era was good, but Dave was not as good as Sammy! These idiots when questioned turned out to know nothing of Dave and VH and only were saying Sammy was better because thats the version of VH they first heard and became loyal to. No intelligence required for that kind of reasoning and no intelligence in the world can make those idiots understand logic or reasoning, so in the end Fuck them and let them live in their fantasy worlds where Sammy and VH rule. We the Dave fans don't want those A-Holes appearing at Roth concerts anyway!

And what's the most interesting thing about Sammy Hagar?...
                      David Lee Roth.

BTW way Dave's "Dradle" - yeah man, I totally agree. I live in No. Va too and that adds yet ANOTHER DLR/Eddie Song 94.7 is using in their Van Hagar ads.

I still believe that Dave is going to be on the tour in some capacity. They are still working out the details, and hence you havent heard from him and his site is blacked out.

Its among the lawyers as we speak.

You can see why advertisers are forced to fall back on those tunes, as despicable a situation as it is.

The Roth era is just so much more memorable. Spam's work was lamentable and forgettable. Ed marvelled at it himself in '96, exclaiming, "Fuck, it's like Sammy never even happened..."

                            Exactly.

I'll bet the average Joe and Jane wouldn't be able to name or even recognize a Van Hagar song when asked, but could rhyme off several of Dave's choice classics.

Why don't they use "When It's Gay", "Gayaround", "Gay Now", "Why Can't This Be Gay", and "PoundGay" for their commercials?

                              It would be most appropriate.
