Is there just one thing you dont like about Dave?

Well, to answer it honestly....

I have a great time every time I see Dave, so this is all in retrospect....

I think the "JD Jackoff" needs to be retired, never really liked that part of the show....

And I agree with some of the others, I think Dave needs to put some new effort into his onstage monologues....

I personally love the CVH setlist, although I wouldn't mind the occasional Solo-era tune as well...

And the reason I agree with the setlist is that Dave is the ONLY one who is keeping CVH alive....

When the Sam/Dave tour was going on in '02, he made it crystal clear... While Sambo was ending the show with fucking "When It's Love", Dave was cranking out infrequent live CVH classics like "I'm the One"... I nearly had a coronary when they played that....

Even fucking Van Halen is burying the portion of it's career that's butter their bread.... Look at that travesty of a setlist from that travesty of a tour last year....

So, yeah, there are a couple of things I'd like to see Dave do differently, but overall, he still puts on a helluva show, with music that I want to hear....

Dave could get up more CVH in minutes, since he knows where to get the sides, like THAT. He essentially STEALS from YOU, tacitly at fraud, FOR MANY, MANY YEARS, so all you dopes think its fun to swim with the sharks, forever, ever-ever, ever-EVER?

But DAVE was only doing sassy company takeoffs aimed at his riff source, which was widely abused by domestic surveillance.

SO CVH should suggest a peculiar Navy origin, as in P-3s overhead, caught the kid all tuned up, which is why the title, HOT TUNA.

THE HOT TUNES came right after tuneups. The market is distorted, the players are distorted, the fans are largely clueless, and is there any circumstantial awareness in the services re this, in the 21st Century? Sure hope so. I'd like to think you guys caught any at all of the scuttlebutt, and listen to the trees now that you have some.

So sorry if you think Dave is simple. NO WAY. He did a hang-fire right out of VH, since he was too sick with Ed's bs to continue. NO WAY could he go back to an organ-playing faker that is so bad, Dave had to get grossed out and duck under CVH sales, to NO NEW CVH STYLE or even something that keeps up with the post-VH hotspots.

That is one penalty of years of cultural sabotage by conservatives and stupid cultural fecophiles, you listen to horns and marches, and you don't see that Stevie Wonder steals, even if Eddie satirizes him.

Dude, get some OD riffs, look around you, see if the Cartman and mom is Val and Wolf and if AB-FAB is a cartoony, drunken, British lez version of same. Be smart and informed, like that Ermey kid.

Well...we did have the DLR band album and the pics..."Dave, Lowery, Ray"...don't forget them...those were the coolest pics on Dave's solo career...that band and the album was a real deal...THE SOLO BAND...it's a pity Lowery changed into Marilyn Manson's band, but I'm not surprised, the album wasn't published by a major label.

Im into what dave puts out. Im not dave, so i have to take what he
offers up and i like 90%. Thats more than i can say about other groups,
singers.

so that i think is what makes a fan .I hate that word sounds creepy.

More like hes ok, so i give a listen.Like all of us getting older his

the only way we will hear CVH is on the DVDs already laid down.

If he reunited w CVH it would sound diff, i think i will like it, when and if it happens.

To start off we all have opinions and I don't think anyone who posted here is right OR wrong. We are not David Lee Roth. He is a human being and we all have our faults. When you're in the publics eye for so long what you see on stage is what you expect to see in real life. We are not in his shoes or in his mind. We dont know what he feels when he wakes up in the morning or what he thinks about before he goes to bed at night. Dave has mentioned many times that he's never truly happy unless he's misrable. The Jason Becker thing is sad...but some people have problems facing tragedy. Would I have visited him? Absolutly. But that's ME. We all need to realize that David Lee Roth is not that cartoon Tazmanian Devil 24-7....he is a real person. I can't even count how many fucked up things I've done in my past that i look back at and go....what was I thinkin!? This site is for Fans of a legendary frontman....and I'm happy just being a fan.

Lummy hit it in terms of Roth's live work as of late.

Can totally understand when Dave hit the road in 1999 for the first time in several years, and the 1996 VH debacle was still fresh in peoples minds, why it made sense to load his setlist with so many CVH tunes.

Thing is, he neglected the DLR Band CD (save for Slam Dunk) and most of Diamond Dave, in order to play fairly similar setlists with every string of shows. And sure, it's reasonable to expect that you're gonna want to hear some CVH tunes at a solo Roth show, but lately it's coming across kinda like a CVH tribute band at Roth's gigs, at least in terms of what's coming out of the amps. You might get Yankee Rose thrown in there, but it's like his solo work never existed.

It's not to say I don't like what Dave does/did...but I really don't care too much about what he did on the Sopranos, or even whatever he's doing on the Howard Stern Show now...just not interested in any of that. It's never been a thing for me where EVERY little thing he did was incredible, at all. But until his setlist starts reflecting more of his solo material, I'm all done with seeing him live. He's in danger of getting stale going that route.
