I'd like to hear what the general concensus is on this board and any other opinions from Army regulars as to why you think David Lee Roth is not currently the lead singer of Van Halen.
We all know he's had the opportunity to do so, so there must be a reason why he's not. I'm not making any judgements, i'm curious.

In response, it's true, Eddie doesn't want to share the spotlight - anymore- that is. (You can piece the rest of the puzzle as to what that makes Hagar The Sheepdog). Also and more importantly, the VH bros. feel that Alex VH is a great replacement for DLR, with respects to business and general sense of humour. As you can see from things since 1985, they were painfully wrong and truthfully only lying to themselves. True Van Halen fans miss the DLR humour and business decisions that encompassed the overall VH package.

In being completely honest, I must admit that perhaps there's a missing 'puzzle piece' that I don't see. It's no secret that DLR has a massive ego, but he's done an amazing job of channeling that ego into pure, unadulterated entertainment. I'm just unsure that the VH Bros. have the patience and matching sense of humour to tolerate his attitude, viewpoints and ego. It's truly a crying shame, because now the true die-hard fans have to suffer for it. And WE are not a minority, by any means. If all parties, meaning DLR and the VH Bros., were to have a little more tolerance and openness, and less anger and resentment, we'd have a reunion that would rival even a Beatles reunion.

You can argue that Dave's washed up if you'd like. He certainly hasn't stuck to the formula. His legendary status remains untarnished.

But to say that VH has "likes to move on and forward" is something even you know is not true.

It's been a lifetime since the Brothers' last album and we'll still be waiting after this tour starts. Any "new" songs are also "stuck in the past."

They're not progressing as some of these Hagar lovers would think they are. To deny one's past is to deny yourself. If and when they ever make it to the RRHOF, it won't be due to the so-called 'stellar' work of Van Hagar. It'll be due to the groundbreaking achievements of the VH6.

If you saw the way Dave acted at the MTV Video awards in 1996 then you would know the answer to your question. it's the bands first appearance together in public and Dave acts like a classless fucked up imbecile. And contrary to what people love to post on the message board...Dave cannot sing anymore. he talk sings and it sounds terrible. Your voice is an instrument and years of not using it have taken it's toll on DLR's pipes. Plus the uncontrollable facial ticks make him look like he has tourrets syndrome. He is a shell of the amazing frontman he was 20 years ago. You can say you saw DLR on tour and he was great but who are you kidding? I did not read one positive review of Dave's performances on the Sammy/Dave tour. Not one.
